2 Bank Battery Charger/Tender ?
Where is the best place to purchase a 2 Bank Battery Charger/Tender to keep the batteries charged when the boat is not in use?
Does anyone have a 2 battery setup and charge them separately when the boat is not in use? Thanks. |
You can get the prosport 2 bank charger for less than 100$ on ebay. Got one, and works good so far...

The pro mariner unit will work well. Go ahead and get a two bank.
I am going to assume that you have a starting battery and a reserve battery that are seperated by a perko or blue sea switch. If this is the case, get the two bank and charge them seperately with the battery switch in the off position. Don't just use the charger in the off season...keep your batteries hooked up at all times when not on the water. This will give you maximum battery life and performance. |
I use a single bank ProMariner that charges two batteries through an Auto Combining Relay.

I use this and haven't had a problem with it yet.

It works great. I don't have to have a super fast charger like some people do though. |
I have a 2 bank Dual Pro Sportsman Series - works like a champ

Will the 8 amp one work fine? I don't need a super fast charge, my boat stays on a hoist and we don't go out more than 2 hours a day.
Will these work fine on any type of battery? I believe mine are fairly standard batteries...maybe dual purpose? Also, my batteries are in the two back corners of the boat, would these chargers come with enough wire or no? If not, how much would the wiring cost? These are pretty easy to wire I assume, just positive and negatives and then the 12v plug in will stay in the compartment until plugged in? How does this one look? I found it online and won't have to pay shipping since it's within driving distance http://www.jandhproducts.com/_e/Prom...HD_CHARGER.htm |
