Just got some build pics of the 09 Widebody and thought i'd share..

illini88 04-09-2009 11:17 AM

Looks good.

greatdane 04-09-2009 1:12 PM

I like that boat. I want to hear more about the wake. I also want to ride the wake once the water warms up.

moon 04-09-2009 1:31 PM

Is that going to be yours or did you get it already?

wakereviews 04-09-2009 2:52 PM

update - It is going to be mine, still in the build process. Hope to have it by the end of the month.

formfunction 04-09-2009 3:01 PM

Nice color combo, whats the surfwake like on the widebody?

pureblue 04-09-2009 4:19 PM

Looks really nice! Hey this is kinda OT, but does anyone know what lake they filmed at for the MB video on the home page. Especially at the end, that lake looks amazing.

pc_sledge 04-09-2009 5:22 PM

Ian, there is still time... have them layer the inside of the hull with an inch of lead.

wackbag 04-10-2009 6:48 AM

I like it. So that boat is the same as the Tomcat 21 other than the pickle forked Bow?

wakereviews 04-10-2009 7:35 AM

Brett, I asked for that option but MB's lawyers decided that the lead install wasn't in their best interest.... not sure why though.

Matt, yep... pretty much the same. Surf wake looks excellent from the pics I've seen. Will post some when I get it out in about a month or so.

illini88 04-10-2009 9:29 AM

The axles on the trailer might not like that inch of lead either...Any pics of the inside before the carpet? I'd love to see how they do the ballast setup.

wakereviews 04-10-2009 9:47 AM

sorry, this is the best pic I have. You can see the ballast tanks are already glassed in here.

moon 04-10-2009 12:40 PM

Ian, is that where all the hard tanks are in the MB's (Even in the Dinosaur's like my 03)?

wakereviews 04-14-2009 11:31 AM

most recent update... engine is in... might be done by Friday!

trdon 04-14-2009 2:34 PM

Kinda looks like a I/O bayliner in that last pic.

illini88 04-14-2009 3:33 PM

Wow, that's quite a statement. It looks nice to me. As wakeboats have gotten deeper freeboards, they do look a little more like I/O's, that being said, nothing about this particular boat looks cheap.

wakeborder5 04-14-2009 3:47 PM

I don't think he meant that, I had the same reaction and didn't relate it to being cheap, just from the angle it looks like an I/O

wakereviews 04-14-2009 4:03 PM

no big deal... to each his own. I couldn't be more excited to drop this sucker in (hopefully) next weekend!

ttrigo 04-14-2009 4:15 PM

nice looking boat Ian. I almost forgot what boats look like without towers on them. clean design.

wstr01 04-14-2009 4:37 PM

Yea, but he could have said "Sea Ray"

illini88 04-14-2009 5:44 PM

I've never seen anyone on here throw the word "bayliner" around as a complement.

wakeborder5 04-14-2009 7:37 PM

Lol I did think of correcting him with "Sea Ray," but I think the thing that gives it that appearance is probably the lack of the tower. Either way, I meant no disrespect as it looks to be a boat and wish MB boats had more of a following/presence out this way so I could check one out.

wakereviews 04-14-2009 7:43 PM

there is a dealer in Fenton, MI - Aqua Sports Marine

lionel 04-14-2009 8:41 PM

Good looking boat! More pics please.......

greatdane 04-14-2009 9:35 PM

"bayliner" is never a compliment.

BTW, that MB looks great. Tell me about the wake!

wakeborder5 04-14-2009 10:39 PM

Onlyinboards, didn't know that. I've been to the Mastercraft and Nautique dealerships in Fenton, which are practically next door, but never passed by or heard of that place, although it appears they've been around a while. I had seen an old B52 or something at a boat show a few years ago, but didn't take much note and didn't see any display for MB at the boat show this year or notice one in the last few years. I'll have to check it out when I go up there next time though, thanks.

(Message edited by wakeborder5 on April 14, 2009)

Lookin good Ian!...is that a grey bottom? black bottom?

wakereviews 04-15-2009 10:22 AM

Yep, black on the bottom.. Hoping for some interior install pics today and a lot closer tomorrow.

Jim from Neptune Audio is driving down with Jim from HSEto hook up a Revolution Volume Control tomorrow.

Gotta give out big props to both of them for going WAY out of their way to help me out. Will post pics of the install when I see them.

alans 04-15-2009 10:30 AM

The HSE Revolution Volume Control worked great in the boats that I put them in.

ratherbike 04-16-2009 12:41 PM

Ian, you are gonna love that boat. You driving out to get it? Also, Luke B posted a question about the MB home page video last week. It was all shot up at Tullock Lake, about an hour from the MB factory. Amazing, quiet lake. There's a canyon that goes back about 6 miles into the hills that we got special permission to run fast in, otherwise it's a no-wake zone. we got glass for about an hour every morning.

h2oproaccessories 04-16-2009 1:29 PM

Ian...

Why arnt you doing the pickle fork nosed boat this year?

tampawake 04-16-2009 1:46 PM

The only thing I dont like about MB is the striping or whatever you call. Other than that I really like their boats alot. Especially the ballast system. I do like the white and black very clean!!!

wakereviews 04-16-2009 1:50 PM

loved the space in the bow of the Tomcat last year but went with more of a traditional styling this year. I think the Tomcat was a little too radical for people here in Iowa and I'd like to resell it on my lake or close.

wakereviews 04-16-2009 1:51 PM

do you mean the vertical piping on the interior? if so, I agree. not a fan and none of my boats have had that.

greatdane 04-16-2009 3:28 PM

I dig this MB minus the graphics. But, the graphics don't matter since my next boat will be ALL WHITE.

pc_sledge 04-21-2009 6:11 PM

Any updates? Got out for the 1st time last Friday, seemed like a lifetime had past since the injury, felt pretty good though. Followed doc's orders (best I could.) Nothing like the anticipation of waiting on a new boat, gotta love that maiden voyage.

wakereviews 04-21-2009 6:33 PM

no new updates yet... bummer. I think the interior is actually going in tomorrow so hope to get some pics. Thought i'd have it by this weekend but looks like it's going to be next weekend. So, this weekend i'll be powerwashing and sealing docks, decks and steps at the lakehouse... but in 82 degree weather, i will not be complaining at all!

Glad the knee is holding up.. how was the water in the mighty miss?

pc_sledge 04-22-2009 5:06 AM

Beautiful

moon 04-24-2009 10:23 AM

Ian, looks great!!! When will you get it?

wakereviews 04-24-2009 12:48 PM

should have it here by next Friday!

illini88 04-24-2009 1:22 PM

Which means it should be in the water by next Saturday!

duffymahoney 04-24-2009 1:29 PM

Can anyone tell me where MB buys those turned down pipes?

moon 04-24-2009 2:18 PM

Duffy, good question. Some bling for the boat is always nice.

duffymahoney 04-24-2009 3:46 PM

I was thinking for noise, but I see them on Malibu boats and MB boats so they have to be available.

jrbishop4 04-24-2009 5:30 PM

Ian, boat looks great. I can't wait to ride behind that thing!!

illini88 04-24-2009 6:50 PM

Justin, you still riding in Canton?

04-24-2009 8:46 PM

Beautiful boat...

jrbishop4 04-25-2009 4:08 AM

No we didn't join the club this year. We have been going to Clinton and on the river. We are riding more on the river now that the flooding is going down. Let me know if you ever want to drive to Peoria and ride with us.

04gravitygames 04-25-2009 4:38 AM

whats the beam on this boat. maybe i missed it

wakereviews 04-25-2009 5:00 AM

It's a 100 inch beam.

Justin got your text - Spent all day Friday power washing my decks and only got about half way done.. hoping to finish the rest today... next weekend it out for me too but i promise i'll make the drive down soon!

alans 04-25-2009 5:12 AM

Speaker Relocation! Is that a fiberglass enclosure? Does this mean that we have 6 inboat speakers now? Looks great!!

wakereviews 04-25-2009 5:27 AM

Yep, I asked MB for 6 interior speakers and that is what they came up with, the new design around the speakers looks sick. Not sure if he's going to make it standard. They are putting 4 of the Rubicons up there on Monday, system should bump pretty good

suprafly07 04-25-2009 7:11 AM

Down here in Dallas, we don't see a lot of MB's. But that is a great looking boat.

When you get it in the water let's see some pics. I'd also love to see some surfing wake pics if you guys surf at all.

ixfe 04-25-2009 9:51 AM

That last pic looks familiar to me.

I like how you added LED lighting to the transom. That will look sick at night!

duffymahoney 04-25-2009 12:11 PM

The hull design looks great for surfing. Can you get it with a wakeplate?

ixfe 04-25-2009 1:36 PM

I asked that same question to Mike B. at the boat show. His response: "Doesn't need one..."

wakereviews 04-25-2009 1:51 PM

I'll definitely put some surf wake pics up when I get it.

lowend 04-25-2009 4:15 PM

Boat looks unreal.
Enjoy.

alans 04-26-2009 5:13 AM

At boat shows people would always ask if they could add a wakeplate to the new MB's. I just said yes, rather than try to convince them that MB's are very well designed. Then after a demo, the issue never came up again.

pc_sledge 04-27-2009 5:08 AM

Sweet ride Ian, can't wait to try it out!

wackbag 04-27-2009 8:11 AM

I was in Portland a couple months ago and saw one at Active. MB's are very impressive boats. The pictures I saw previously did'nt really catch my eye. But, I love how they are ....practical. In other words not a lot of extra crap that you don't need. Not just show but go.

266crownlinebr 04-27-2009 5:03 PM

IXFE - What are those ports next to your exhaust? Is that for ballast to exit?

OnlyInboards - What are those open holes in the interior for, under the floor? Picture 6 from the top? You said the balast tanks were already in, are those for storage?

wakeborder5 04-27-2009 5:38 PM

Cole, that is indeed for the ballast to exit, you can watch of video of it draining on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYhawR_IU-E

OnlyInboards - I have been following this thread closely. Since I bought my TWB off the lot, I didn't get to follow the build process. Any chance you can host all your build pics in full size somewhere? Maybe Photobucket?? I could look at them and study them for hours!

A few questions...

1) What engine did you get?
2) Describe your system? Speakers, amps, etc.
3) Did you get a heater? How many cores/outlets? Where?
4) Did you have to ask to get the fancy chrome MB logo on the trailer? I have same exact trailer, sans chrome logo (see pic).

5) Which racks did you get?
6) What are your plans for a spare tire?
7) Where are you going to store this beast?
8) I assume the rest of the features are like mine... dual batteries w/ Perko, Zero Off, yada, yada, yada. Anything else unique or different?
9) So you + me makes two TWB's out there. How many more of us are there??

and finally,

10) What made you choose this boat/model? It's always fun to hear about other people's decision making process.

Congrats!

wakereviews 04-28-2009 3:56 PM

1. 343 motor I'm sure (i honestly don't know)
2. I asked for two additional interior speakers. There are two amps and 4 Skylon Rubicons on the tower plus the sub. Also have the HSE revolution volume control and an EQ installed. EQ for adjusting volume of tower speakers. Thanks to JIM AT NEPTUNE AUDIO! Call him up in Norcal!
3. Yep, got the heater - same as yours
4. no, i didn't ask for that, must be a new design.
5. Standard racks
6. none, i don't trailer
7. on a lift
8. yep - just the Underwater LEDs and the new design around the rear interior speakers
9. Just two on this site that I know of... I think G might join the group soon

I wanted a traditional nose boat vs the pickle this year as I always sell the boat and I think the Tomcat design was a little radical for people in the midwest

Will try to get some wake pics this weekend and surf pics with a 750 in it.

wakereviews 04-28-2009 3:58 PM

also, the other build pics that I was sent are on mbboatowners.com

bulletlines 04-28-2009 5:00 PM

Ian,

Thanks for all the great pics, it really made a difference in our decision to go with MB.

Our MB F21 Tomcat was sprayed last night, and MB should be sending me a few pics soon to post. We went with the 400 HP engine, pro series 2 swivel racks, sent our X8000 LEDs to be installed.. We pretty much upgraded everything to the best MB offers. Mike Brendal was great to work with in designing the boat to match our company colors. I cannot wait for a pull.

Ken Land
Bullet Lines
www.bulletlines.com

jumpman 04-28-2009 5:16 PM

Ian,
Love the colors! Can't wait to hear what you think once you get her in the water. Look forward to pics.

wakereviews 04-28-2009 6:04 PM

Thanks all. Ken, congrats on the F21... can't wait to see colors! You wrapping it?

Anyone in Chicago, Midwest, Peoria area that wants a pull behind an MB, let me know!

Also, boat will be for sale too

ralph 04-28-2009 6:19 PM

What's going on with the interior pieces that look baggy? Is that a test fit or is it how they come?

ixfe 04-28-2009 11:03 PM

^^^ Nothing baggy about the MB's interior. Fit and finish is outstanding!

wakereviews 04-29-2009 5:39 AM

I'll let you know when I get it Darren, those were the build photos they sent me. Since we're posting build pics... here is a 220V that is being built for a buddy of mine.

moon 04-29-2009 6:28 AM

Interesting, the shape of the new 220V hull looks to be the same as mine (2003). I thought they changed it?

wakereviews 04-29-2009 7:05 AM

supposed to be nice both days... might not drop it in till Sunday though. Need to finish the decks on Saturday and my reward will be Sunday on the boat!
