a couple seattle shots

Joe really like the city scape of Seattle, beautiful. Always love a good pup portrait:) nice exposure on the horse shot. The Startrails shot is nice, but the wires/cables are a little distracting for me.

Well done on the wine bottles, enjoyed the Pike gallery, good job with the flowers. Were you manual focusing most of the time? My fifty really "hunts" in auto. I'm inspired now, think I will dig mine out today;)

Awesome images everyone!
I just got contacted by Sunset magazine letting me know that they are going to be publishing this image in their November issue. I am prety stoked, this is the first time I have ever had anything published. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4107/...fb17abea_b.jpg |

Some macro shots of those butterflies with the flowers would've been pretty cool! Still neat shots. Well here's my first attempt at star trails, from last night.

Contrats JJ-- that shot is SICK.
Here are a couple macro shots using a 100 2.8L macro lens. Just got it today and took these after right after I got home. I used a Sigma EM-140 DG Macro ring flash also. Got the Sigma today too. It supports ETTL but I just set it on Manual and 1/64th power and adjusted the aperture until it looked right. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/rgn/5045250054/" title="BV5D0070 by DM Images, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4149/5045250054_bf791d9020_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="BV5D0070" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/rgn/5044629439/" title="BV5D0082 by DM Images, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4083/5044629439_282cdeb5ba_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="BV5D0082" /></a> |

Nice Rob, I've beed thinking about picking up a 100 Macro, did you get the IS verson?
Couple sunrise shots from Gulf Breeze FL. last week. |
Randy-
I did get the IS version. The new 100 2.8L IS. It is pretty sick. Honestly, I don't really know why I'd need the IS though. If I am not using a flash I am using a tripod and if I am using a flash I am using 1/250th of second so still not a huge need for IS in my book. Really fun lens though. Going to use it for some portraits too..... |

congrats jj! that's a sick shot!
randy, i switched back and forth between auto and manual. break out your nifty...it's definitely a lot of fun! rob, nice macro. can't wait to see more from you shooting w/ that lens. went to a creek by my parents' house to check out some salmon migrating. pretty cool when you've never seen stuff like that before. |
Fantastic
All of your shots are incredible and inspiring. Thanks for sharing them

ben, the last shot would've been cooler had it been a bit wider and in focus.
|
Cheap $55 wide angle lens adapter, bout as in focus as it gets :/ the original un-resized might be better res, but doubtful. the money is gettin saved up for an actual wide angle lens , believe me I can't wait!
|
Randy, no new camera yet, not available for a bit longer!
Great shots everyone. |

My son has been playing around with my back up camera, and took it on a hike with his girl friend. Came back with these, pretty decent shots for a rookie photog I think. CC welcome.
All shot with a Canon 40D and Tamron 17-50. |
Props to your son Randy... nice shots. The last one is really nice. I like the way he framed the shot.
|
Nice Rob! Good to see a great pic of my local riding lake.
|
Randy, awesome shots by your son! those are really good if those are his "rookie" shots! I'm a big fan of that last picture, really cool framing through the wheat. That lightpost off her shoulder needs to be PS'd out, it's driving me nuts! :p
|
Thanks guys I will pass it on to Alex, Kind of fun to see him take an interest in photography, but I havent seen my 40D since :D.

I went over to the Oregon coast for a couple of days, pretty much overcast and raining most of the time so the light sucked, Here are a few that I liked. |

Been a while since I posted in here. Jason, looks like that D7000 is treating you well! I'm hoping to upgrade cameras myself pretty soon, probably a 7D. I do too much high speed low-lighting stuff to be happy with my T1i, especially after shooting with a friend's 1DmkIV and straight 300mm setup :p. Here's a shot I took of my friend during one of his concerts. you can check out his music at myspace.com/dustinthomas , it's acoustic/soul style music. really good stuff, especially "g.u.t.s." and "fisherman".

Ben, you really need the slow shutter speed to capture that effect. Also a good tripod and release cord. This is a shot I took a couple weeks ago with my F stop @ 22 and a shutter speed of 1/3 sec. Tripod & shutter release cord.
|
My bad, I didnt really clarify that part. What I meant was he needs a higher f stop WITH that slow shutter speed. Because I'm guessing what Gravity is doing is using a slow shutter speed, but keeping a low f stop as well. When what he needs is that f22 like in ur photo, along with a 1/3 sec exposure
|
Sweet shot thanks for the help.
