Possibly new handle time.

So my ronix north got pretty thrashed in a hydrofoil accident last night. It's still usable, but pretty tore up. I'm thinking about picking up a new one, specifically a accurate podium or murray. Any one got any advise on a new handle?

wake77 06-17-2010 9:56 AM

Got the new Lyman handle. I really like it.

cant go wrong with the proline LG setup, have it and i lovvee it

ajholt7 06-17-2010 10:50 PM

Proline LG for sure. I have had a hand injury and this is the only handle I can use for very long. It is awesome.

agreed

+1 for the Lyman. I had the 4-5 of the proline LG handles in the past and liked them a lot other than they sank. I decided to try the Lyman this year. I won't go back, the lyman is the best handle I've ever had. After using it the other 3 guys that have boats all went out and got one too.

LG for sure! It's just a great handle. I just lost all 2 proline mainlines and LG handle and am completely bumbed. I had to get a handle and line quick and my local shop only carries straight line and liquid force. I picked up the Liquid Force Plush combo because it looked like the LG and I'm pretty pleased with that one as well.

I've got a credit at tommy's, and they didn't have the Lyman :( so I had a choice between the Murray and the byerly so i picked this

New LGS...new grip patterns and doesnt sink. Love it.

thedoubleupkid 06-18-2010 9:12 AM

I heard the Neo on those Lyman's fail within a couple weeks. Keep me posted on durability! Alliance will be previewing 2011 Proline in the next issue! Here comes the LG 3-D! New and improved MX grips! New LGS Argyle pattern, ARC Anti-Roll Construction, 4 hidden floats, 24 new handles for 2011.....

sbt3 06-18-2010 10:06 AM

CWB Board Co.- So far the Neo is holding up good on it. I just got hurt so it won't get used for about 6 weeks. It did have probably 60-80 pulls on it so far and no sighs of wear. The other reason I went with it is I wanted a wrap handle and they make a diamond wrap that can be added... you guys need to have a least one diamond wrap in your LG lineup. The plastic pistol grips are torture on the hands.

wake77 06-18-2010 10:22 AM

CWB...Have had it for over a month now. No sign of failure, still feels as good as new as a matter of fact.

thedoubleupkid 06-18-2010 11:04 AM

Left me know what happens by Aug. Most the team guys say the big diamond or V handles get in the way. That's the first knock I've ever heard on the Proline pistol grip. Maybe you should start wearing gloves - ha just kidding. Anyway here is a peek at one of the 2011 Proline LG 3-D grips!

Does the byerly float. I have crazy lake weeds and my current handle does not float and it picks up weeds like you cant believe. I did not like Murrays handle it seemed short.

Chuch 06-18-2010 11:15 AM

I like the looks of that!

Anubis79 06-18-2010 11:34 AM

I'm pretty sure the Byerly handles don't float. I've got an Accurate Chamois on the way which is pretty much the Murray or Byerly (same company) without the name, and it floats.

waketowake 06-18-2010 11:54 AM

LG they had them at overtons for like 50 bucks not sure if thats still going on, but its a sick deal

behindtheboat 06-18-2010 12:01 PM

I use a Proline LG handle with no problems for a while now. Kind of messed up to come on here and bash/slander another companies product though

cjh1669 06-18-2010 12:13 PM

That'll suck if it doesn't float. If that's the case I'll put some foam inside it. The only reason I too the byerly over the murray was the color. I have a red rode and figured the byerly would look better....... Lame reason, but all things being equal....

blowhole 06-18-2010 12:23 PM

dont get the ronix msrp loop the thing blows, shredded on me the first day out the whole graphic on the bar is almost peeled off a few weeks in...

thedoubleupkid 06-18-2010 12:29 PM

If you are referring to me - I apologize as that wasn't my intention. That Lyman handle has been released and shelved a couple times now. It was first released in 2008 or 09 w/ a clear octo sided rubber grip but ended up super slick when wet. Then it was released again w/ the hydratek deal which is a neo based grip. The first versions did not very last long to my knowledge - I was just curious whether they currently held up or not. Sounds like SL has fixed the issue. It's all good - I suppose rereading my first post, that does sound a little harsh.

behindtheboat 06-18-2010 12:55 PM

all good, like I said, I think the LG may be the best option on the market.

cocheese 06-19-2010 5:16 PM

Switched from LG to Lyman. Warrantied my LG twice and it still kept falling apart and sinking to the bottom of the lake. I had a hard time getting a season out of a pre 2009 LG. I bought a Lyman while waiting on my upgraded LGS to arrive. I now own a Lyman and an LGS. The Lyman has a small tear in the grip (I think from my wedding ring) but is not affecting the grip or causing it to sink to the bottom. I will let you know which one lasts longer. As far as grip and comfort, I love both of them! Durability will determine which brand I stick with.

ilboarder12 06-19-2010 6:16 PM

my experience with the lyman handle is it tore my hands to shreds. calluses beware.
