I'm looking to buy my first wakeboard boat and there is a 2000 Moomba Outback in my price range. I grew up riding mastercraft and Malibu boats and loved them. i don't know much about the moomba name. I've read mostly good things, but is this particular model a good wakeboarding boat? It's priced at $17500 with only 140 hours. Is this a good buy?

For pure wakeboarding purposes, I'd go with a slightly older Mastercraft 205, or Malibu Sunsetter. Moomba's are great boats - I just sold my '99 Outback, which is basically the same boat. I never had one problem with it, but the wake wasn't great, and it had a very low freeboard.

My 2003 Outback with 105 hours is only worth about $17,000.

It's a great wakeboarding boat. Kyle Schmidt, Josh Sanders and Russ Wilde all have Moomba's.

1200 lbs makes it a great wakesurfing boat.

Thanks for the imput fellows, but now I found an 04' moomba outback for 20,000. Pending a test drive it will be mine and I'll be on the water again!!

Ed, I really like Moomba's. Don't get me wrong. But Schmidt, Sanders, and Wilde do not ride behind Outbacks.
