My wakeskate finally got here last nite. i'm going to ride it tonite. i've tried wakeskating once before, and got up and everything. what's a good speed to ride at? i have a 45" board, i am 6'3" and weigh about 200 lbs. i ride my wakeboard at about 22.5 at 65 or 70 feet, depending what mood i'm in. should i ride the wakeskate the same speed and length? or should i just feel it out?

(Message edited by thephatone on August 21, 2002)

I ride my wakeskate at the same speed and same rope length as I do when I'm wakeboarding (22-23mph and 75').

thanks for the tip dude. my skate is awesome. it's way better than the 41" cassette i rode a few weeks ago. it was sweet. almost went wake to wake.

We wakeskate at much slower speeds than we wakeboard. I board at 22 but ride the skate at 19. Since I'm not trying to generate the speed to clear the wake and go big, the slower speed means a bigger wake and seems to make it easier to do some surface tricks.
i appreciate all the input. i just had to feel it out. i ended up riding about 20-21 or so. almost went wake to wake last nite, but i cased it. i love wakeskating! even crashing is fun.

I personally like just launching myself and forgetting the skate. But yes wakeskating is the poop.
