ok, i found the following XTi(body only) for $760 XT(body only) for $699 XT (body & 18-55 lens) $720 Xti (body & 18-55 lens)$870 which would you choose and why?where can i find a 70-200 lens for cheap/used? it will be used for wakeboarding shots primarily. what is the 18-55 lens good for anyway? thanks

This is going to sound rude, but have you done the research on the 2 cameras in question? XTi is the newer version of the Rebel. ok...i did research the 2 cameras and i guess the only thing i see (not really a clue about photography, thats why i asked) is that it has more 2 more megapixels and maybe a few more options, a 2.5 lcd vs. 1.8 i was on fredmiranda and did the reviews and i guess i have to sign up for the used stuff for sale i also looked into the 30d but that is outta the price range i was looking for reviews from people that use these and people i can relate to

i'd just get the rebel xt and then buy the battery grip or put the extra money towards a lense. the extra 2 megapixels and slightly bigger screen isn't worth the extra money IMO. to find good prices for the rebel xt check <a href="http://www.techbargains.com" target="_blank">www.techbargains.com</a> daily to see if theres any coupons. i've seen the rebel xt body only in the low 600s.

For the body I would look at buying it at Costco because the price will be very competitive and the return policy is excellent.

I think that shooting action shots this little bit of information is important: XTi 3.0 fps, 27 JPEG or 10 RAW frames XT 2.8 fps, 14 JPEG or 4 RAW frames Not that much of a difference,but it is different. I think canon is coming out with their rebates here pretty quickly. Keep an eye out. I personally own a rebel xt and would save for the 30D if I had it to do over again. The 2.5 fps of the xt to the 5 fps for the 30d is a huge leap. Plus the extra size of the 30D is nice. I bought the extra battery grip for my xt to help with its tiny body and it helped a little. With that said I personally believe that the difference between the two (XT and XTI) would only be noticeable in the final product (I.E. picture) in the hands of a very skilled photog. Those two extra megapixels are not going to be the limiting factor in your pictures. Exposure, white balance, noise, framing, focus and many other issues will be far more pronounced than the actual pixel count. Good luck and let us know what happens.
