Lets see the best option you have on your boat. Whether it is custom or factory we want pictures.

polarbill 11-12-2009 9:17 AM

It's not on my boat but I think the best custom added option is the keg in the rear vdrive compartment. It is in Robert Mitchell's VLX I think. He has a tap sticking out of the back of his boat. Awesome.

Speed Control.

3000lbs of ballast at the flip of three switches!!

Aside from the standard stuff (PP, ballast, swim step, etc), I like the riders locker on the back of my sunpad where I store my ropes. I like the storage shelves in the rear facing seat behind the driver too.

brit_rider 11-12-2009 10:45 AM

Heater! One came on my boat in 2005, now I'd never have a boat without one

bchesley 11-12-2009 10:51 AM

Its a toss up between the 2500lbs of ballast in under 10 minutes or my wetsounds system.

The yssup magnet

cyclonecj 11-12-2009 12:25 PM

4.0 litre lexus engine that uses 2-3 GPH at wakeboarding speeds on a 22ft Vdrive with full ballast.

11-12-2009 12:55 PM

Definitely the shower. There is nothing I would trade for having an onboard shower on a cold day. Makes riding well into the winter months possible.

The 4200lb stock ballast system and the heater.

My good job horn.

joesell 11-12-2009 2:19 PM

The 8.1 liter engine, and the twin rudders. It makes my boat jump out of the hole with the stock #4000, and still turn on a dime.

Heaters are pretty nice too!

(Message edited by joesell on November 12, 2009)

pierce_bronkite 11-12-2009 2:49 PM

Probably the WS420. Nothing like getting on the mic and yelling at someone or just having some fun with it.

mhunter 11-12-2009 2:58 PM

#1 Zero off speed control #2 heater especially after this summer.

bpenosa1 11-12-2009 3:58 PM

The pink slip thats (finally) in my name. No more payments its probably the best option.

I guess with all that power being made you need to keep track of it so guess I would say my Xantrex Link 10 Battery gauge.

bulletlines 11-12-2009 7:09 PM

Best option is speed control, and a stereo is close 2nd.

laptom 11-13-2009 3:34 AM

The best option is that our ZR-6 engine is converted to propane. It's running so smooth, cheap and better for environment on propane (LPG)!

dreevs 11-13-2009 5:43 AM

Hold on - Tom, did you just say your boat runs on propane? Wow - maybe Ive been under a rock, but that sounds pretty cool. In your Nautique? Did you do it yourself?

brit_rider 11-13-2009 5:59 AM

Ted - Its been done for years. Probably 30% of the ski/wakeboard boats in the UK run this setup.

You lose a little horsepower but gain massive cost savings in running compared to Gasoline/Petrol.

mhunter 11-13-2009 6:22 AM

Ted
Where do they put the LP tanks on a boat. Can you give more info and pics of your setup?

brit_rider 11-13-2009 6:41 AM

They put them in the V-Drive lockers generally but there's a few options.

dirwoody 11-13-2009 7:15 AM

Def want more info on the LP!

dreevs 11-13-2009 8:31 AM

Why in the VDrive lockers? Seems there would be more space if you dont need the traditional gas tank.
I want this option! I would sacrifice some horsepower for huge cost savings - I say learn to get out of the water properly on your board and you shouldnt require a middle eastern country's worth of gas to get you out of the water... anyway:
Can I see it? Can someone post a pic? Brit - are you saying the manufactureres (bu, MC, Nauti..)offer this option in Europe? Or its an aftermarket add?

polarbill 11-13-2009 8:33 AM

How much is Propane? It isn't cheaper than gas in the US is it? Does LP burn far less fuel than using gas?

newty 11-13-2009 9:41 AM

As far as I know Propane is far cheaper in the UK/Europe. Here it is a little cheaper than gas but from what I remember two 25 gallon tanks will only last 3-4 hours. Then you run into trying to find places to fill up all the time. Again I believe propane fill stations are far more common in the UK and Europe.

wakeworld 11-13-2009 9:49 AM

It's a tough call. Yesterday I installed my new Wet Sounds Syn 2 amp, WS-420 EQ and Pro 60 tower speakers. You should have heard me in the garage barking commands to my imaginary rider through the microphone!! I think that's going to go down as my "sweetest option."

Of course, the swim deck pad is going to be a close second...

psudy 11-13-2009 9:51 AM

^ Do you sell those?

laptom 11-13-2009 10:06 AM

Nice swimdeck David!

Yes, our Nautique 230 (and our 210 in my profile) is running on propane. It's quite common in the UK, Germany, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. You can do it yourself, it's quite easy to do it. You just need to go to a specialist to tune it right and to get it approved for the insurance (we don't want any trouble with a fuel system).
We use plastic light weight tanks (refilleble) for it. Can get 6 gallons in it and run a little bit over an hour with a single tank. We can get 6 of them in our V-drive locker with room to spare. The original Petrol fuel system remains 100% original. We can choose between Petrol or LPG with a flip of a single switch.
LPG is much easier to fill in the Netherlands for boats (when your boat stays in the harbour like ours). Every petrol station for cars you can refuel these tanks, or there are specialists companies where you can exchange your tank for a full one.
I'll make some pictures of the system and the tanks.

wakeworld 11-13-2009 11:36 AM

No, SeaDek custom made that for us, but you can get one done of your own by going to www.seadek.com.

Hey Laptom,..you are 100% right! It is so common that i forgot it,...I couldn,t enjoy boating as much as we do now without the lpg set.

The LPG set on my LY6

riverside 11-13-2009 2:39 PM

P.s brit rider.
The new sequential direct injection systems can be fine-tuned with software and there is no powerloss what so ever if done correctly.
Start up on gas and once the engine reaches operating temps the system automaticly changes to lpg.
Here is a pic of the tanks...2 tanks in each v drive locker makes a total of 4 tanks.132 ltr or 35 gallon.
