I'm just curious why it seems that Centurion is almost never mentioned in any discussions. Is there a reason no one likes Centurion? Do Mastercraft/Nautique/Malibu sell that many more boats than all the other guys? Whats the scoop... <BR> <BR>Don't get me wrong, if I could afford it, I would pick up a Mastercraft tomorrow, but that's not gonna happen for me for a while. I've had my 2005 Centurion Elite-V C4 Air Warrior since I bought it new in 2005 &amp; I like it a lot. But... I had never tried wakeboarding before I bought my boat, so I had no idea how the wake compared to anything. I have since rode behind an X2 once and the ramp on the wake was amazing, but my boat seems to throw a pretty good wake too. <BR> <BR>I guess I'm just looking for opinions because I'm curious what everyone thinks about them since they are very infrequently discussed...

People aren't going to discuss entry level items nearly as much as they will discuss the luxury or near luxury class of boats, cars, etc. <BR> <BR>Like it or not Centurion isn't in the same category as the mastercrafts, malibus, correct crafts, etc. Also Centurion doesn't seem to do an effective job of marketing their product to any kind of masses so a lot of people don't know much about them nor have they ever been on one. <BR> <BR>That being said I own an '05 cyclone c4 and overall am pretty happy with it. It's a bit small at times but once you find the right balance it throws a decent wake and puts out a reasonable surf wake. I've had my share of problems with it, but overall they have been minor.

I have an 07 Avy and I absolutely love the boat. Matter of fact, I get alot of compliments from owners of boats that you have mentioned. Boat choice has alot to do with how much you can afford. A $70K WB boat should be worth bragging about. But, once you have your own boat, you can brag all you want because it is yours!!

Thanks for your honest opinion from another owner. I knew going in that a Centurion isn't going to compare to the "luxury" boats, on pretty much every level, but that's why I was able to afford one too. I guess I'm just surprised that there seem to be so few owners out there, or such a small number of discussions that involve them. <BR> <BR>BTW, I've had my minor problems too, my speedometer hasn't worked properly for a year &amp; such. But, I still like the boat, and I'm happy with my purchase.

Ditto to what everyone else said. What it comes down to is whether or not you are happy with your boat.

I have owned 2 Centurions and think they make decent boats - not top of the line but functional for wakeboarding. I end up buying Centurion after considering most every other v-drive out there because I feel like I get good deals with them. Would I have bought the same year, size, condition MC or Supra for the same price? You bet, but I wasn't willing to spend $10-$20K more which is what you would have to do get in those brands. Just wasn't worth it to me. At the end of the day it won't make much if any difference in my riding or how people enjoy cruising in the boat.

You also have to remember that Centurion is a fast growing builder. Look at Malibu in the early 90s. People would have laughed if you put them in the same category as MC and Nautique back then. Now look where they are. In this market you have to do very well over time to get much respect. I think Centurion is going in the right direction. Look at Supra, they have been knocking on the Big 3s door for the last couple years and are finally getting some respect.

The other thing to remember Centurion has started building the Enzo series to compete with the big 3 in standard features and fit and finish and wake. <BR>I personally would put my Enzo up against any other manufacture in all categories! That is of course my opinion.

Ditto what kevin said. I checked out every other boat manufacturer and ended up with an enzo. fit and finish is 2nd to no one out there. I think alot has to do with the other manufacturers sponsoring big dollars to have their boats in all the big wakeboarding tours and contests and putting up big dollars to sponsor riders, and that goes along ways when people look to purchase boats. they see someone doing a quadrouple triple backflip majigy in a contest and think that's the boat that they have to get. It's all personal preference. As long as you love your boat and use the poop out of it, who cares. putting my sv230 out on the lake for the 2nd run this weekend. can't wait to put the switchblade on and see what happens.

Centurion has been great regarding ordering parts. Granted they were minimal parts and probably in stock but I swear it felt like they were on my door step before I even noticed on my Credit Card.

Centurion has been around as long as any of those other boats out there. As far as all the big names, MC, Malibu, Nautique, etc, I think it just depends on what you want to pay. We had an 85 Centurion and sold it a year ago. The boat was great. You just need to take care of your stuff and it will last. For me I am not into luxury and dont care about the names and knwoing who paid more. From my understanding, people also rag on the Centurions because of the deeper V's tendency to make cleaning up the wake a little more tempermental. <BR>I wanted the deeper V because I wanted the better handling on rougher water and that really had me narrowed down to Sanger and Centurion due to price range desired. <BR>I love the boat, very happy with it. ( I'm sure I would have loved the sanger too! Anything that gets me on the water and I'd love it!) <BR> I'm new to wakeboarding so this is definitely a boat I can grow into. The only issue I had with it was the isolator wasnt wired properly from the factory so I had the dealer pull it out and put in a switch ( which was going to happen anyways as its what we agreed upon).

My first boat was a 81 centurion. We used to slam it with 1000#s. That boat performed well as does our 2001 concourse air warrior. No complaints with Centurion. I would buy another one. Speaking of that, has anyone seen the 2007's with the tahoe package?

I have a Elite V C4 as well. For what we do with it it's way more boat than we need.

As has been said many times before, there are very few "bad" boats. Centurion in my opinion is one of the better. I had a choice between MasterCraft, Malibu, Tige, and Centurion. I went with Centurion-just could not justify the extra money and we're not the bling bling type of family, we prefer a lower profile. <BR>Around here MC has somewhat of a "hey look at me" reputation--your basic corvette driver stereotype. Having said that, they have some of the best wakeboarding wakes when lots of weight is added-surfing is middling at best (based on my experience of an X2). <BR>Malibu is a solid contender- great wakes- but the ones we test drove pounded noticeably in only light chop and the glued in carpet was a show stopper. the malibu felt a little more flexy than the others but that might have been the tower they used. they are also drifting into pimp and bling territory as of late. <BR>Tige wouldn't allow a test ride so no sale. <BR>Local servicing dealer is also a huge factor and Centurion has the best local support of the brands in this market.

Just to throw it in, I have an 05 Avy and I frikin love it. I was able to eliminate that illustrious white wash on the port side and now the wake is great. I get compliments all the time on my boat. Yes Malibus, Mastecrafts, and Nautiques are nice but my avalanche gets the job done also.

How did you eliminate the wash? Was yours that fin issue on the older Avy's? I'll be experimenting more with the ballast this weekend since I'll be on vacation for a couple of weeks. <BR>I've had a hard time keeping the wake clean so far, but the conditions were pretty rough both times so it's a little difficult to tell..

My first boat was a 2002 Centurion Hurricane and now I have a 2006 Centurion Avalanche and the difference in these two boats as far as appearance is non comparible. Centurion has definetly stepped it up over the years. What I like most about it is they continue to upgrade their interiors and options and still keep the price down. I tell ya I'm proud of my Centurion. I get more compliments on my boat than I thought I ever would have. Every weekend when my boat is docked people ride close to my dock just to look at it. Not only does it look flashy, but it is functional. It throws a good wake and yeah the wake is sensitive, but I have seen white wash on every wakeboard boat I have been in and that includes the X-Star. I have a manual wake plate on my boat so what I ended up doing is completely raising one side of the wakeplate which was my port(washed out) side and lowering the other side to either perfectly even or down I will have to look at it again. Plus I threw some extra led on the port side and now it is dialed. I guess for people who have the hydraulic wakeplate they can't tweak the different sides of the plate so this doesn't really relate. I probably have an extra 150 to 200lbs on the port side and it is basically to the point where movement of people effect the wake which is not an issue for me.

^^^^^^ <BR>The exact same thing I did to clean up my wake. I didn't realize that people with the hydraulic plate couldn't manually set the "tilt" from left to right on the plate.

Yeah, I have the hydraulic plate. <BR>I have stock rear tanks (200each), no center ( I opted for fuel tank) an integrated sac in the bow ( 500-750? never filled it yet! just got it) the movable fat brick ( 155) and just got 12-25lbs rubber coated lead plates.) <BR> <BR>Between the lead and the brick I should be able to balance it. <BR>I'm still new, so I didnt immediatly start slamming it.. ( just slamming myself!) <BR> <BR>Enough movable weight to be able to balance I would think.. I'll start a thread in a couple weeks after I play around with the weight and get some pics...

Thats what I was gonna try with the lead! When I was breaking it in, I had 3 people in the bow ( 2 on left one on right), and no one in the main area but me driving... The wake was very clean on both sides... This paired with no center ballast is why I wanted to try the Vsac as well. <BR>I'm looking forward to it! ( Besides the fact i really could use the vacation!)
