This kind of snuck up on me, since I don't often read some of the other topic areas. I have seen these advertised and thought for a minute that they might be fun, but it seem that they are a bit too dangerous for my tastes. Please read before you consider the purchase.

Sorry for the redundant post but I feel this is good information loosly related to "boat accessories" where there is significant traffic on the webboard.

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/50752/335118.html?1153366306

Moderators, please delete this post if you feel it is not appropriate.

talltigeguy 07-19-2006 10:02 PM

They've been outlawed at numerous places including Lake powell.

My sister's boyfriend dislocated his shoulder falling off of one two days ago in northern MI.

If at first you don't break your neck, try try again..

cawakeboarder12 07-20-2006 3:28 PM

I dont get people who cry when they get hurt on that thing. When it says dont go over this speed. DOn't fly higher than you are willing to fall

jarrod 07-20-2006 3:42 PM

882001 07-20-2006 4:32 PM

mbrown 07-20-2006 7:02 PM

That video is not funny, I guarantee that last fall resulted in injury, if not serious injury, and that just isnt funny.

(Note they were properly tubing in the rough part of the lake)

dkjbama92mariah 07-20-2006 9:04 PM

Ouch. That thing brings a whole new meaning to inherently dangerous product, but it also illustrates assumption of risk! I wonder how many folks have been seriously injured or killed. I'm amazed there are people STUPID enough to actually ride that thing. Hmmm passive eugenics and darwinian theory: the guy stupid enough to ride one doesnt grow up to have kids of his own.

grud8 07-21-2006 12:20 AM

The stupid one is the driver. He (or she) is the one that controls the height that the tube can go.

boomerang 07-21-2006 4:30 AM

Looks like they have been recalled.

http://www.boattest.com/Resources/news.aspx#recall

zo1 07-21-2006 4:44 AM

Sorry Mike but that is damn funny.

People who get hurt doing stupid things don't get pity.

nautique226 07-21-2006 5:53 AM

It was only a matter of time before someone died or got there neck broken off of one of these. Recall!

07-21-2006 7:20 AM

Looks like the guy was falling off on purpose. That last one had to hurt.

bigrich 07-21-2006 7:30 AM

Looks like he let go for sure. I guess there some point where your brain takes over for your body's stupidity.

kslakebum 07-21-2006 7:50 AM

Darwin is working for all of us... FINALLY! I don't see why people are stupid enough to even buy one, let alone ride them. Literally, death in a box.

stepintoliquid 07-21-2006 9:12 AM

That last one is NASTY!!

skibum69 07-21-2006 10:22 AM

Did anyone else notice in the videos all the boats seemed to be going way over the 20 mph limit the manufacture suggests. I am jsut guessing but I would guess most were going closer to 30 the last one even says boat speed 35, and they wonder why the falls hurt?!?

(Message edited by skibum69 on July 21, 2006)
