I'm about to go down the rabbit hole and get the iPhone. Is it worth it to get the 3GS? I remember hearing some issues about the software upgrade?

3GS has been great for me! Not 1 issue

Both phones have the new software so if thats the problem they will both have it. The S has a few more features that are nice. I've had my G for over a year and it works like a champ.

3GS does not lag with 3.x software. 3G does.

3GS has been great for me. Had it for about 2 months.

Love my 3gs especially the map feature. Saved my arse from being late more than once. Took a couple short boarding videos with it too and they were not all that bad.

wait a few months if possible. strong rumors of new release in april.

^yeah, apple is supposed to release the new iPhone this spring or summer. Actually, they have something on the 25th or 27th? Where they'll be unveiling something new along w/ the new iPhone. Heard it will have 5.megapixel camera and a touch sensitive case like their magic mouse. If you can't wait, then I'd recommend the 3gs. Much faster (especially if you decide to jailbreak it)

Next week will likely just be the tablet and they will demo the 4.0 iphone software. No new iphone hardware is likely just yet. The verizon iphone will hopefully be arriving later this year. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple waits to refresh the gsm iphone until then.

Wes, your right iPhone 4 software not hardware, but did you hear any rumors in regards to new one or an eventual new carrier?

Check out gizmodo <BR> <BR>doubt you will hear about 4th gen hardware before april but foxconn has made statements or something that apple will follow suit with new hardware in June as has been the norm

Wait until after the 27th at least. The iPhone is the best phone I have ever used. I've had the original and the 3G. The original was more durable, but the GPS is a nice addition to the 3G. I looked at the 3GS, but had no use for video recording on a phone so I saved a little money.

rumor is Apple is building a phone for Verizon, release around April...that why you dont have deal with ATT

I think April is a bit early. I think technically AT&amp;T's exclusivity ends around mid-year, so soon thereafter. <BR> <BR>Although I certainly wouldn't complain if it appeared in April - I will be jumping back to Verizon as soon as I can.

Ive had a 3g for 2 years. Works perfect and i've dropped it at least 107 times.lol

I've had the 3g for about 2 years as well, probably dropped it 107 times without issue, but then dropped it the 108th time very softly and the screen went crazy. Decided to go with the 3g again, no complaints. I also, unlike many others, have had zero complaints with AT&amp;T over the last 5 years.

2g, 3g, 3gs, whatevers' coming next, it doesn't matter which one you get but if you drop it good luck. All it takes is a drop at the wrong angle and you're going to pay. Keep in mind that it is truly a mini computer that unlike your traditional cell phone will break if dropped.

^^ While I don't doubt that a drop could break an iPhone, my 3gs looks like it has been through a war (read I drop it all the time, and half the time try to catch it and end up swating it across the driveway.) and nary an issue. <BR> <BR>ohh, more iPhone and verizon speculation.
