how many companies do you know will come in here and ask you what you look for in boardshorts? better yet, how many companies will ask you what you want, then make it for you? i know of only 1 company: cire!!! a few months ago, there was a thread about boardshorts. i chimed in w/ my suggestions: kelly green w/ very little loud graphics. what do i find in my mailbox today? <BR> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/712771.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>(dog not included) <BR> <BR>eric, thanks man, and thanks for taking my suggestions and running w/ it. i'm sure people will be down for this design! it's definitely loud, but super clean and so not obnoxious! oh, and they're long past the knees!

wakedad33 07-03-2009 7:06 PM

Joe when I saw the top part of your post &amp; the pic, I thought you got a new dog in the mail <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Cire &amp; Eric rock for sure. Nice graphics.

xandercon 07-03-2009 8:00 PM

while those are sweet, and i'd sport a pair if i could get them (just checked the website and didn't see them), i wonder if i requested 60's era short trunks they would make them.......i'm not a fan of the long boardshorts. even the "shortie" boardshorts that are being sold today are about twice as long as they should be for my taste.

innov8 07-04-2009 7:16 AM

We will always support Eric and Cire, great company, great product. <BR>Short Boardshorts (just say no)<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>

jarrod 07-04-2009 8:07 AM

Cire does rule!

garret_s 07-04-2009 12:40 PM

I saw Cire's wakeboard commercial the other day. Very Benny Bennassi. Cool pair of shorts though!

blake_hughes 07-04-2009 1:41 PM

They look good to me.

duffmangt 07-05-2009 7:24 AM

so cire when can we pick up a pair?

hunter660 07-05-2009 8:06 AM

More like this and I would buy a few pair.

ncboarderboy 07-05-2009 12:01 PM

being 6'2" and 130lbs these guys make the only boardshorts that fit me <BR> <BR>Thanks

wakecourage 07-05-2009 3:51 PM

If those were in black i would deff buy them!! Cire please make some basic black and red board shorts. No a huge fan of the colours this year!

andy_nintzel 07-05-2009 3:57 PM

I have had people CONSTANTLY asking me all summer, where I got my shorts. I am lucky enough to have just about every single style out...every single pair people love. <BR> <BR>Those Kelly Green ARE SO SICK!!!!!!!!!!! Didnt know we had a Umali Pro Short!!!

dudeman 07-05-2009 5:54 PM

Rock them proud Joe. <BR> <BR>Gerald, bulk up brother.

brainrinse 07-05-2009 7:24 PM

Agree, CIRE rules.

ncboarderboy 07-05-2009 7:38 PM

cross country.

dakid 07-05-2009 9:42 PM

"dakid" would be a fitting name for these shorts, don't you think? <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/lol.gif" border=0>

nuckledragger 07-06-2009 6:02 AM

Joe, <BR>Stoked you like the design!!! Thanks for the idea and these are the “DaKid” Boardshort. <BR> <BR>Kduff, <BR>We made 2 hand samples when Joe gave us the idea. I had 1 pair of size 34 left that I added to the website last night but someone already snagged them. <BR> <BR> <BR>To answer the other questions, here is what we are doing..…we are going to take this boardshort and expand on it. Most of our designs have distinct prints and colors and run at $48. I put a post up a few months ago that asked everyone what they thought about boardshort cost and all the technical stretchy fabrics that are out now. My biggest problem with the direction of boardshorts in the industry is that you can’t get a good pair for under $48 and prices keep going higher every year. The boardshort buyer guide I saw in Surfing magazine featured 200 pairs and only 17 pair were priced under $50. While we can’t price drop our core line of boardshorts due to the cost of the printed fabric, I want to be able to get those who can only afford to spend $35, a good pair of trunks. <BR> <BR>So these will become the cornerstone of our Recession line of boardshorts, all priced at $35, all the time. The Recession line will have the same length, style, and sewing as our core line but with tamed down graphics and more basic colors. We will have our first boardshort from the Recession line in stock in a few weeks, yes Wakecourage, they will be in black but the logos will be a little different. We will add the DaKid boardshort to next year’s line. <BR> <BR>Thanks everyone for your support of the brand!!!!!

brainrinse 07-06-2009 6:09 AM

Wow, I think the Recession line is a great idea that will take off!

wakecourage 07-06-2009 6:44 AM

Awesome!!!! looking forward to seeing the new stuff! Love the fact that Cire hears out the riders!! <BR>A BIG Thanks!

teamvaldez 07-06-2009 7:04 AM

Ok, eric, are you booked for reno yet? No excuses boi!!!!!

wakemikey 07-06-2009 8:49 AM

much positive karma for CIRE - very cool!!!!!

andy_nintzel 07-06-2009 8:53 AM

UMALI HAS A PRO BOARD SHORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

garret_s 07-06-2009 9:54 AM

CIRE, <BR> <BR>What an awesome idea. I will buy a pair for sure.

antbug 07-06-2009 11:30 AM

Andy, <BR> <BR>That's what I told him. Joe is da MAN!

nuckledragger 07-06-2009 12:02 PM

15,000 posts doesn't get you a Pro Model boardshort, it gets you a Legend Model. <BR> <BR> <BR>Team Valdez, <BR>Sorry, I'm out on Reno <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/sad.gif" ALT=":-(" BORDER=0> Win and drink a few for me in the Nugget.

duffy 07-06-2009 3:03 PM

Nice job I'll be looking forward to the line and will order some!

onthewatermo 07-06-2009 3:06 PM

...when I reach 15,000 posts, can you make my Legend model clear? Joe and Cire: breaking down traditional notions of company and consumer...well done y'all.

beckycarter 07-07-2009 4:07 PM

You should tell him that your friend Becky is really into Neon!!!

parkgirl 07-07-2009 4:12 PM

very RAD I must say. I dream of the day I can design my own boardshorts. Joe, I like your taste in short style, simple and clean. Make them to fit a girl and I'd buy them!

duffmangt 07-07-2009 4:16 PM

hell yeah...mad props 35 is my type of money for boardshorts cant wait

wakemikey 07-08-2009 8:50 AM

CIRE as previously requested, next project: Long, cool womens shorts. No pink or baby blue or flowers. Just a solid design and great fit. Please!

eubanks01 07-08-2009 9:02 AM

Eric is the man! He and Innov8 were awesome in taking care of me when I ordered the wrong size shorts. They were on closeout and could have blown me off, but they both went out of their way to get it right for me. <BR> <BR>Thanks guys...you both are awesome!

jjakober 07-08-2009 9:51 AM

Wow, what an awesome idea Eric! <BR> <BR>Can't wait to snag a pair from the Recession line :-)

onthewatermo 07-08-2009 10:02 AM

Joe, your dog's ear made it onto Cire's website (let me know if it needs legal representation): <BR><a href="http://www.cirewear.com/guysboardshorts.php" target="_blank">http://www.cirewear.com/guysboardshorts.php</a>

rio_sanger 07-08-2009 10:15 AM

Hey Eric, the recession line sounds great! Just curious though, no 33" waist available in your line up? <BR> I always have a problem with most 32"s being a bit tight, and almost all 34"s being way too big.

nuckledragger 07-08-2009 12:06 PM

Chris, <BR>No size 33 for us, we seem to be able to get everyone into either a 32 or 34. We might have to exchange a size or two every now and then but one of them usually works out. <BR> <BR>Andy, <BR>The dog is on product flow from us, it was part of the deal, so were good to use the photo <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

dakid 07-08-2009 12:13 PM

haha! <BR> <BR>eric, you want me take a better pic for you?

nuckledragger 07-08-2009 12:45 PM

Joe <BR>If you can lay them out flat that would be cool. I didn't get a chance to shoot them before I sent them off.

dakid 07-08-2009 1:05 PM

i'll take care of it tonight. it won't be until after 10pm (school tonight), but i'll definitely get it done.

ttrigo 07-08-2009 1:15 PM

I am right there with you rio sanger. 33 is the only size in most trunks that fit me right. 32's are a bit tight, and I dont drink enough beer anymore to make the 34's fit. <BR> <BR>c'mon Eric! make the 33's happen, and you put me down for two pairs!!!! <BR> <BR>Congrats Joe! I had a feeling all those posts would come in handy some day.

jjakober 07-08-2009 1:30 PM

Hey guys I was in the same boat. I bought some 32's from Cire and they were to small. I talked to Eric and he told me to exchange them for the 34's. I got them and they fit perfect. He designed them to have some adjustability to fill that 33 size gap. Trust me, if the 32 are to small, the 34 will fit fine!

jenniferjorgensen 07-08-2009 1:46 PM

This has nothing to do with you post....wow your still on here..crazy! I am trying to get back into the mix...this time in Boise Idaho. If you know anyone put in a good word for me...it's been way to long since I have ridin'! Trying to get my husband into it so that he'll break down and buy me a boat haha. hope all is well with you! <BR>Jen~

dakid 07-08-2009 1:52 PM

holy crap jen, long time no see! i'll ask around to get you hooked up. hope all is well!

ttrigo 07-08-2009 2:47 PM

wakemikey 07-08-2009 4:45 PM

If they weren't pink she would go for it. <BR> <BR>Here's her fav now: Ten80 Kensington <BR><a href="http://www.lakeelmosports.com/product.php?productid=16200" target="_blank">http://www.lakeelmosports.com/product.php?productid=16200</a> <BR> <BR>Much better pic here but still no pink for her. <BR><a href="http://www.waterskis.com/Ten-80-Women-s-Kensington-White-p/ten_80_kensington_white.htm" target="_blank">http://www.waterskis.com/Ten-80-Women-s-Kensington-White-p/ten_80_kensington_white.htm</a>

ttrigo 07-08-2009 4:55 PM

they have some other ones for the ladies in their closeout section that are not pink.

dakid 07-08-2009 11:21 PM

eric, check your email! <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/714378.jpg" alt="Upload">

nuckledragger 07-10-2009 6:49 AM

So to answer the questions above and some emails I have received, here is the first boardshort from the Recession line...... <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/714827.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>The SESSION boardshort is in the last stages of production and will be here in about 2 weeks. We added it to our site this morning.

hunter660 07-10-2009 6:57 AM

I like them, but I would be more interested in something more like the "dakid" shorts.

nuckledragger 07-10-2009 8:30 AM

The DaKid are coming but not until next Spring.

wakecourage 07-10-2009 9:32 AM

I like the green ones!!! Please make a black pair of those exact ones!! Just my taste but the new recession lines graphics makes them look like kid shorts. Not hating..im sure others will like it.

zachcopp 07-11-2009 9:09 AM

Love the DaKid shorts. Not a fan at all of the SESSION. Not trying to hate, just trying to give feedback

K.B.C. 07-11-2009 9:39 AM

nice, $35 board shorts, well done Cire. you'll be getting some of my money in the near future. and I actually like the session short more, to each his own.

innov8 07-11-2009 2:03 PM

Nice!!

duffmangt 07-11-2009 3:20 PM

yeah the DaKid boardshorts are awesome, not a fan of the session either. Maybe if the back was plain and blue cire on one leg instead of both? I dunno just like the simplicity of the DaKids! bring them sooner than 2010! Please :P

wakerider111 07-11-2009 4:39 PM

for the whole sizing thing (ie 32 vs 34 etc), speaking of all board shorts in general. if you thread the holes a little different you can get the shorts to tighten about a half an inch more. line the holes up on each side over the top of each other then put the lace all the way through, dont criss cross from top to bottom. hope this makes sense in words, it makes more sense when i can show it. i have helped out a handfull of people with this little trick in the past, but don't think i have mentioned it on the forums yet.

nuckledragger 07-11-2009 6:21 PM

Jeremy, <BR>It makes perfect sense and I have never thought to do that. Great idea. Post up a pic so the others know what you mean.

duffmangt 07-11-2009 7:45 PM

good idea jeremy, this hasnt been a problem with me but great for future reference

wakerider111 07-11-2009 9:52 PM

thanks, I am surprised at how often the trick is overlooked, as simple as it is, but i suppose that is why it is not always thought of. <BR> <BR>First the Traditional Factory way <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/715306.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR> <BR>here it is TIGHT! <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/715307.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR><font size="+2"><font color="0000ff">Now the Byromie way...</font></font> <BR> <BR>start like this <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/715308.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>then pull them through the other side so the holes over lap without crossing laces <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/715309.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>giving you just a tiny bit more tightness that makes a big difference, especially if you are between sizes, or if you recently made more room after a meal <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/715310.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR> <BR>effectively you have about 3 size/tightness settings: loose, tight, and the overlap method tight <BR>see pic for comparison <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/715311.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR><font size="-2"><font color="ff0000">Disclaimer: shorts are not CIRE</font></font>

wakerider111 07-11-2009 9:58 PM

this should come in handy when buying or selling shorts i imagine. wish i had shared it earlier.

nuckledragger 07-12-2009 3:23 PM

Great explanation, it makes perfect sense and I may have to start using this myself.

nuckledragger 07-13-2009 9:59 AM

So we took all the feedback on the Session boardshort and made some changes. We are going to simplify the logo placement like the DaKid and keep that the theme throughout the Recession line. There will be the pinstripe on the left hip and the logo on the right leg. We will take off the logo on the left leg and on the back. <BR>Thanks for all the feedback. We want to make a boardshort for the people <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> <BR> <BR>I will post up a photo once the factory finishes the sample.

allen 07-13-2009 10:50 AM

I went to a party this weekend and all I where is Cire shorts. Yesterday a few of the guys asked where I get them. I told them and then this morning I sent an email to them with Cire site. They had already ordered shorts befor they go my e-mail. <BR> <BR>CIRE RULES!!!! Eris Is a class act and is truly in it for our sport!!!! <BR>Only problem is everybody I know wears em' <BR> <BR>Al

wakeworld 08-15-2009 6:43 PM

Here are the new shorts that Cire sent me. They come in all-white with black logos and designs that you can color in. I let my daughter go to town on these things and I think they came out pretty cool. She even did some coloring around some WakeWorld die-cuts (the one on the back is kind of hard to see with the wind blowing). I'd probably prefer fewer logos and more freehand space and some longer-lasting markers, but I think it's a pretty cool idea. And as many have already stated, the shorts are pretty nice too! <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/726271.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/726272.jpg" alt="Upload">

I've got some serious hook ups on oneill stuff, but damn those dakid boardshorts are sick! I've got tons of superfreaks and hyperfreaks, but that design is awesome. Let us know when you get them back in stock.
