Your probably right Joe but I recently rode on a X-2 and it had a SICK wake so I'm just exited for the guy !
Ok no problem.
You pulled the trigger on the 02 x-star???or brand new x-2??

Congrats either way,you won't be disappointed whatsoever!!!
Thanks Ed! Brand new X-2 with the MCX . It's still at the factory. I'll post pictures asap.
YEAAAAH you the man with the dope boat.I'm super exited for you and the choice couldn't be better IMO!CONGRATS AGAIN!!

Ohh and why the face??you didn't make a mistake going with the MCX!!

So now ...you and Evan are getting new boats or just one of you?
Maybe a bad choice of expressions. haha

I believe Evan is also getting a new X-2. They are both being delivered the same day.
oh, i was told to keep it on the down low. my bad.

congrats on the new boat!
really? Hmm... That means the person that told you was probably told to keep it on the down low.

It was on the down low while I made a decision between the VLX and the X-2. Skiworld showed me the love.
Congratulations J-Rod. I'm surprised you didn't stay in the 'Bu family. Doesn't matter though. Great choice! Keep us updated with some pics when you get a chance.
yeah, you know he can't keep a secret!

we'll definitely have to hook up next time i'm up there (prolly in 3wks)...either your boat or my buddy's boat, doesn't matter. i hear you're the man to push a rider to new tricks!
i'm busted! sorry J-rod I was so happy for you I had to tell someone.

Sorry about gettin' snappy. Thanks for coming to the light side. May i ask what color?
i'm curious, what made you pick the x-2 over the vlx? not that i think you made a bad choice...just curious.
Solid bright orange.
J-rod congrats on the new boat you wont be disapoited... so what colors did you go with and what options???
Joe, One of these days....seems like every time you're in town, I'm out of town.

Squid is the man when it comes to pushing people. He made me stay in the water until I landed a TS 3.
You and Evan with an X-2!!WOW That is pretty exiting!

curious??

Tower,racks,wake,resale value,interior ohh wait a min.you asked J-Rod!!
J-Rod ~ It only took you the 2nd try to land that TS 3.
jrod, what was the secret to the ts3? over memorial day weekend, that was the trick we all had to try. for the life of me, i couldn't land it...kept over rotating and/or slippin' out. same thing for the roll2revert...came close but couldn't ride it out.
The boat is solid orange from the rub rail down. I added a heater and depth finder. It came with the big motor, racks, bimini. That was really all I had to add. I kept my NVS so I'm good in the stero dept. No shower but I never use that anyway.

Are you asking why I went with the x2 Ed?

I got lucky! I never learn tricks that fast.
As soon as I felt the handle hit my other hand I stopped rotation by keeping the handle behind me and looking out at the shore. I think keeping your head turned is the main reason for over rotating, and handle position of course.

You could go straight for the TS 5. Many swear it's easier if you have the time.
Congrats J-rod. It sounds like I may be seeing you next weekend.

Chad
Yeah, two new matching boats. Of the boats we ride behind now we'll have 3 X2/Xstars. Pretty sure we're going to be used to that wake.

Mines gonna have a bigger wake, though

Can't wait. 2 weeks without a boat is longer than I've gone in years.
J-rod, Ya and aren't you glad I made you say in the water. Once I saw you do the first one I knew all you needed was a little push and help with body position. Then the next blam there it was. That has to be my favorite part about wakeboard helping others land a trick. I love to see the stoke in their eyes (as they are jumping up and down in the flats after its landed.)
I like the X2/Xstar hull.

What color did you get Evan?
J-Rod ~ Joe was asking why!I know exactly why I picked x-2,I just made a joke answering his question when he really asked you,why you picked x-2 over VLX!

oh..I somehow missed that.

It came down to the customer service at Skiworld. Those guys rock! We have a good relationship, they are close to home, they gave me fair trade in, and were fair on the price without having to haggle. The boats both have their strong points. It was the service that sold me.
Service will do it!!

Spoke like a true non-biased wakeboarder!!

That will soon change.hahahaha J\K LOL
So when I talked to J-Rod yesterday I was told he was "thinking about getting an X-2". You must have thought super hard J-Rod.
Rene... My boat is all red with white at the very bottom of the boat. I'm pretty stoked. I haven't found anything that I don't like about that wake, yet.

I second that Ski World is awsome. Those guys have taken awsome care of me since the begining. It's the icing on the cake that they carry Master Craft and are right around the corner from my house.
Joe, I was doing the same for the longest time (years) on the TS3, and Christopher Stack finally helped me figure it out last summer. You just turn it super slow, only rotate about 75-80% of what you feel like you should, and land looking backward like a HSBS180. Once you get it, it's easier than the HSFS3. Just get your pop, at the peak of the lift give a tug to turn the first 180 and create some slack for the landing, and then you are actually slowing it down while turning the second 180 on the way back down. It helped me to think of it as 2 180s in sequence instead of a 3.

J-Rod, what was the secret for you?

Wait, better idea, one of you fellas line me up a pull and I'll make sure you learn it! I haven't ridden my wakeboard since last year - trajedy!!
Hey doc, that was exactly what did it for me when I learned it. McMillen used to beat me up: slow it down, slow it down, do a 180 first. Finally I figured it out. It's been a while since I landed one (kinda got onto other things and forgot about it). I guess I have to go out and get back on it. The other thing that helps is to try to land in the cuffed position with the handle basically in the middle of the handle pass. It keep you from over rotating and also gets you ready for the long grabbed 3 to blind.

Anyway.... back to boats.
doc oc ~ that's just sad. Somebody get this dude out. I sure everyone knows who you are and if they don't..... Doc oc is amazing to watch, gives great pointers and is just a good guy.
Thanks, Ant, very kind of you! I miss you guys and all my Delta homies! Been busy with a new house, but really itching bad to get back out on the freshwater. Even got a new deck sitting in my living room that has not been ridden. Will be at the beach next two weekends but after that I guess I'll just hang out at Orwood in the morning with a can of gas, 12 pack, and my thumb out!
I just hucked it and somehow landed on the board like everything else I do
Hey doc... I'm sure there wont be any problems getting you out with us once we get our boats rolling.

Nice congates on the new ride hope to see ya all up at Shasta in July.

Mike
J-Rod, Congrats on the new boat. I'm sure you'll love it. Just fyi, I use Ski World for all my service and they have always done me right. They are top notch.

Can't wait to see it but more importantly, I want to know how you will be weighting it.
Thanks, Evan!
I see you are down with MiloSport - awesome shop! George is one straight-up cat! I was talking with Josh at the boat show and got his number, so maybe I can link up and get you guys to show me some new stuff. Love for Schleprockfisher, Stefani and Ja, Mike (Lehmur), Big Ed, and all the other Delta peeps who have taken me on, and always looking to meet new riders and have more fun!
Hey J-Rod & Evan, When do you expect to take delivery? If you need a pull in the mean time, let me know.

Doc, You're more than welcome anytime too.

Migitty, I use lead and the stock ballast (two rear tanks & one ski locker sack). The wake is always nice.

Doc ~ I having little issues but will be up there before you know it and then you'll be set, just hit me up!

Set?!?!I guess most of the time anyways!
and as far as weight in it!!

J-Rod you won't have any problem fine tuning it cuss it's easy to make it nice!Tho any questions and you can hit me up.

1000lbs over stock and 5 to 6 people

1500lbs over stock and 3 to 4 people

(Message edited by big_ed_x2 on June 03, 2005)
so to go from "3 to 4 people " to "5 to 6 people" and only 1000lbs over stock, each additional person has to weigh 250lbs?

(Message edited by dakid on June 03, 2005)

Congrats on the new X-2.

Mine is just broken in and I love it! Once my stereo is all tuned up it'll be ready to go. If it would only stop raining...
J-Rod,
Ed's wake has become quite legendary in just a short time, so his recipe obviously works.

You might also hit up Stefani Payne (Wakelvr). She has a nice X-2 weight distribution recipe that she got directly from Travis Moye (pro tour chief driver, was Shapiro's now Murray's driver, etc.). The nice thing about it is that it actually does not require that much extra weight, it all about the placement, so you do not burn quite so much gas. My profile pic shows the wake. Nice user-friendly kick to it, with plenty of lift. Good luck!

Ok Doc

what's the weighting secret?
Man, it was a while ago and I don't recall the specifics of it, hence, my suggestion to ask Stefani. I recall it involved mostly adding weight to the bow, but there was some other minor tweakage here and there.

Note that it was for an X-2, not sure the same would work for your X-10.

I also think Arun's idea is a good one, you might give that a try.

(Message edited by dococ on June 03, 2005)

If you want to take it so literaly, one person weights appox with gear and everything about 200lbs give or take!

But joe.....You know no matter how many people come the 1500lbs is gonna be in my boat but if I get newbies like yourself then I will drain the stock ballast for them!

Nothing makes me happier than people buying X-2's/X-Stars, or any wakeboard boat for that matter(although being on my 2nd MC in 6 years may have made me a little biased.)

Congrats to both of you, X-2's are worth their weight in gold, regardless of how you weight them.

On another note, ts 3's took me forever to learn, I'd slip out over and over. Then I decided to land wrapped instead of passing the handle. I haven't fallen on one since, and its been years!!
congrats J-rod.

but I have to say

Doc I just bought an X-2

Got 12 hours on her right now so I'm trying to figure out the best way to weight her without going overboard
I will second Big Ed's wake. Took four sets behind his boat today and it was kickin'. I was gettin' straight BOO-HOOTED!!
Thanks Thane I'm glad you guys had fun!

I to like how the wake was today and it was 1000lbs over the stock and 3 people tho 2 in the boat 1 riding!

I think I'm gonna keep it this way?!
ED.. you went out today.. where did you ride.. when i called they said the channel was closed for a tournament...

thanks for the CALL...JK

welcome to the world of the X2 Jrod.. im sure youll enjoy every minute you spend on the boat just as i do.. and just so all you boys out there know.. this is how a wake should look..

and that's how a roll2revert SHOULDN'T look.
Josh ~ Yeah it was closed for today, but yesterday was happening.Got there it was like 7am and it was not sunny nor was it glass. These rollers kept coming in from the main lake and it looked like we were wasting our time and then 10:30,11am hit and it looked like everybody left including the fiherman. So no fishing derby and the sun came out. After 11 to about 4,4:30pm,no wind and damn near glass on every run.I pretty beat right now,but feeling good.
Joe, you've got plenty of rotation, but you're looking down so you'll slide out. If you turn your eyes up and a bit more to your right, find the shoreline and lock on it exactly at a 90 degree angle out from the path of the boat, you will land that trick. For me, it takes concentration to remember to do it. Frequently I will start skipping out on my R2R's and it's frustrating when I cant' figure why. Then I'll realize (once again) that I am getting lazy and forgetting to pull my head up and find that shoreline perpendicular to the path of the boat. When I start doing that again, it's all money every time. Give it a try.

Man, here I am not riding and giving up the secrets to all my best tricks!
doc ~ to date I have never seen a cleane R2R than you did that day at the delta. The way your body is layed out and how your board traveles behind you. Oh yeah and your hair goes the other way it, it looks super sick. You were killing it that day. Hope I get another chance to ride with you again.
Thanks guys.

Thane: out boats are still being made. No pictures yet. They ship on the 10th.

Ant, thanks, man!! Ditto about hoping to ride again soon!
It was a long while ago, but do I recall that I skipped out on the first one because I was forgetting to look at the shore? Maybe.

J-Rod, congrats, man! The new swivel racks this year look sweet! I-M-N-V-S!
