Alpine wired remote problem
 

I have 2 wired remotes and the screen on one of them is acting weird. It is basically blacked out unless I hold down the up arrow. While the button is held down it is perfectly legible and after I release the button it will stay that way for a few seconds before it goes back to having all of the pixels blacked out. I managed to adjust the contrast and that didn't help. Any other ideas?

Can you swap the cables and see if the other remote does the same thing? That would be a start. If it follows, try swapping the remote if possible. I am not familiar with those remotes, but this should narrow down what component is bad (deck/cables/remote).

Yeah I will try swapping the cables at the head unit and see if that helps. I had considered just swapping the remotes as well since it is the one on the drivers side that is having the issue and I use that a lot more than the transom mounted one.

I had the same problem with a customers boat. The remote itself is bad, swap it out. Changing cables or other things aren't going to help.
