I know this has been covered on here hundreds of times with a DIY ballast project, but I am having trouble finding anything current. Also how are the factory ballast systems plumbed? <BR> <BR>I am currently installing a auto ballast system on my Tige, and I am looking for a consensus on the type of pumps everyone is running. So if you could please let me know the following, I would really appreciate it. <BR> <BR>a) what type of pumps you have <BR> self-priming reversible <BR> aerator style <BR> <BR>b) how has the system you have installed functioned for you since you installed it <BR> <BR>Here are my concerns with each of the options: <BR> <BR>reversible self-priming - I don't necessarily like how the inlet/outlet is the same thru-hull fitting - not real keen on draining out a hole in the bottom of the boat <BR> <BR>aerator style - I'm a little concerned about the space it will take up and that I won't get a good prime to start the drain/fill process.

I did an install on my buddy's 24v. We used Fly High sacs and the Jabsco self priming pumps. So far it's working out great. We used three vents out the top for overflow and put the intake thru hulls right by the exhaust flaps. No leaks, no problems.

Matt, you don't drain it through the bottom of the boat. You can use check valves and run another line out the side. There are a ton of detailed posts here if you search to get you started with some ideas. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by chaser on May 16, 2008)

Thanks guys. I'm now leaning towards the reversible pump/check valve system. Sounds cleanest and most reliable.
