i'm currently doing loads of tramp work as i'm starting inverts now, i can practise tantrums cause they're just a straight back flip.

problem is that i want to try a backroll first and don't know how to practise the movement on a tramp. any ideas anyone????
cheers

also forgot to ask, is it better to initiate the roll whilst going up the wake or once in the air.

if its the second can anyone explain? think i understand the first more

I would try a front flip and a reverse cartwheel that will help.

HS Back rolls and front flips are just side flips (opposite directions) on the trampoline. Learn these by doing cartwheels on the lawn. Then do the cartwheels on the tramp. Then get a little bounce going and do the cartwheels with no hands. Then, you will have a side flip. Use a handle tied to a tree and keep both hands on it and keep it tight to your middle. Remember, because of your edge, you will be going perpendicular the path of the boat when you do these tricks, so, you should be facing the tree your handle is tied to when you practice these on the trampoline.

that all sounds good, is the roll initiated on the wake or once you've left it?
|
A roll is initiated by carving the board up the wake so that it flies around your body with the handle as your pivot point. On a trampoline you will have to huck it because there is no water passing beneath you to edge against. To answer your question, the initiation point should be as you are leaving the very top of the wake.

ts backroll is also a straight backflip you dont have to worry about the rope as much as a hs backroll. Just take a nice edge towards the wake and when you pop up pull the rope in close and throw your head back let go with your back hand.

jump then tuck
