Looking at a lifeline GPL-4DA battery that has 210 amps hours. I have room to fit one.

Currently I have 165 amps hours with 3 optimas and very rarely do I run out of power for the stereo.

Cost is around $425.

I am seriously leaning this way versus buying 3 of the Deka 24's or 2 of the Deka 31's.

Is one big battery an ok solution for the stereo bank? I have heard these Lifeline's are top notch.

(Message edited by murphy8166 on February 24, 2010)

Have you ever tried to move a 135lb object with simensions of 20x9x9?

Just getting it in the boat is gonna take 2-3 people?

It's not like lifting a barbell with 135lbs on it.

Not too worried about weight and awkard handling. Once it get it in the boat...it's not coming out.

I am sure that I can entince a couple of buddies to help move this thing from the ground to the boat.

I see that as the biggest issue.

Me personally, I'd rather move around and lift/pickup 120lb dumbells than move around a pair of 60lb golf car batteries.

My batts are in my passenger side locker...and akward doesnt' even begin to describe it, lol.

doing it twice has resulted in multiple cuts on my arms/hands and a very stiff back the next day.

What boat?

It is going in an older malibu in the passenger compartemt. It is going to go exactly where the 3 optimas were.

Herniated my L5/S1 disk lifting both of my previous golf cart batteries up on the platform. On the positive side I was wakeboarding 6 weeks after the micro surgery for the repair.

at this point mike you're going to get a herniated disk lifting your twins =)

$425? I can almost buy 3 pairs of Interstates for that much.

I'm sure that you can. You could also fill you boat up with $425 worth of potatoes and draw energy from the them like a 3rd grade science experiment.

Space & battery maint...may be something to consider with 3 pairs or 6 total batteries in a boat.

Michael, you are comparing standard flooded dual purpose group 24 or group 27 batteries to an industrial grade absorbed glass mat battery that has the same capacity as 6 interstates and will be a much better deep cycle battery. It is like comparing a 17' bayliner with a 3.0 6 cylinder to a fully loaded xstar.

btw...Brett, I am going to go with a Deka 4d or 8d.

I have a pretty big system 3800 Watts rms. I ran it hard for 3.5 hours yesterday on just one of my 8D's and only lost 20% of the battery. If you have you have the space, as you say you do, get either the 4 or 8 and Lifeline is the best.
