Finally got the 911 prop on my boat. I'll sack her out and put up some pictures. Interested to see what she looks like now that i'll be able to get on plane with weight I couldn't do that with before. It should build some Sanger pride.
|
That would be so sick stanley,we would rock :Dthe lake..I would be scared to be another boat on the water that day ,haha..

Someday when I am super rich and powerful:), I am going to design a true yacht that's hull is designed from the ground up for surfing! The thing is gonna throw a 8 foot wave! No reason you couldn't do it.

That sounds fun.

I look on ebay all the time for big yachts that have surf looking hulls. The trick will be finding one with a single prop.

Not the biggest but standard underseat ballast wave on my Cent Avy with room to slam. (water not close to vent yet :) )
Still never got to ride that 30ft single inboard fishing deep-V boat. It's the biggest single inboard I could find. Avy: |

This is behind my Sanger V237
Could use some more weight in the front I think. Just put on a new prop, so I'm going to take her out and weight her down as much as I can starting tomorrow. Should have some better results to show. |
its not the biggest...but its solid.

LOL...^^^^ Weimar said you kicked it off purposely!
|
He's right, I had to destroy the evidence. My wife thought I was at the lake working on our boat.
|
I have a new entry for consideration. Our Tige 24Ve is back from wakemakers, just yesterday. We had high hopes that the modifications we desired would do the trick. It blew away our expectations. We still have to work out some kinks in the electrical system but the work wakemakers did to get more weight in the lockers and get the weight all the way into the far rear corner, all the way to the transom, was outstanding. They had to move firewalls, batteries, etc, but did a pro job.
Here is a quote from Jason as to the ballast details: Quote:
<iframe width="853" height="510" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/XmQ94B4UKY8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> So the wake? Now many of the pictures above, including mine use different cameras and angles that help accentuate the wake, no harm there. The pictures of Chase above on our RZ2 are all genuine, but the real wide shots (last couple) were using a wide lens that make the wake look longer than it really is. It was very big and long that day, but the lens flatters it. So for reference, here are a few pictures taken from the ballast boy seat, at eye level by me, with an iPhone 4. No attachments on the phone. Here is regular first. Rider is Mike Mandley who delivered our boat and we showed our appreciation with a ride. He was new, so we didn't adjust the wake while he was riding. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6185/...f2395a64_b.jpg Photo Aug 15, 6 31 48 PM by wake9, on Flickr Here is a couple pics of RJ, and with RJ we had a chance to adjust and dial it in a bit more. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6071/...a36347b4_b.jpg Photo Aug 15, 7 19 39 PM by wake9, on Flickr http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6081/...5c785f90_b.jpg Photo Aug 15, 7 25 15 PM by wake9, on Flickr Lastly, I have been planning on doing some video blogs where its not so much a podcast, just me avoiding typing out a bunch of stuff. ;-) So I made this our first video blog and I show the progression of our Ve and compare to the RZ2 with the same cameras and angles. This was our first 3 hour test, there is so much potential for adjustment and tuning. We only had 400 lbs up front, and the Ve can safely take more. No sacs on seat, all hidden. We will have video of Dennis on both sides in a couple of days. Man, lots of fun. Thanks to duffy for his project that gave me the confidence to hack up the back of the Ve to get this to work. <iframe width="853" height="510" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/N6pb1oI50YI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Hey Ragboy, thanks for this video it is very informative. On your 24VE with the new sacks can you tell me on the 400lbs in front bow was it a sack on the goofy side or one of those bow sacks that go in a V on both sides. I am very impressed with the goofy side wake on the 24VE with the new sacks. Also wanted to thank you for the video feeds at the last NWWSA event.
|
what is xlinc? and did i hear him say there is a 'booster' pump for each side, thus the filling side will have 2 pumps going into it?
|
@packrat it's just a horseshoe sac up front for now. We are going to play with a extra 400 lb sac up front, and then possibly try to get more hidden up there.
@John with the cross link, main pump, and booster, up to 3 pumps filling or emptying with a possibility of 4100 GPH, but I think he said he was testing it at 50 GPM which is about 3000 GPH. Wakemakers video'd everything we did so we can share the process and setup. Whilst I am testing and dialing in the wake. |
Robert, Heard you say in the video you are back in the 24Ve for a while. I'll take the RZ2 off your hands for a couple months. :)
|
Where've you been man? Martinez is coming up this weekend, when you bringing the family up? Come ride 30 feet back on this Ve? ;-)
|
Great session today, Dennis came out and after we dialed in he was riding farther back then I have seen, at least on our boats. Thomas was riding back into no mans land and RJ was landing 360 after 360. If he messed one up a bit, he had plenty of time to recover and try again. Will post video tomorrow probably. Fun day, going out again tomorrow. The wake is really great, but the boat is slammed to get it that way on the 24.
|
Ragboy, so you still have your 24ve?
|
Yes we do, and with the new mods, the wake is amazing. The only thing, is it is slammed to be able to do that. You really need a lot of weight on the 24, seems consistent with other 24s. We could only get about 1000 in the corner before and with that weight you could not add any weight to the front, and it was a nice wake, but lacked push. The RZ2 had lots more push. Now with the modifications we get about 1500 lbs in the corner, and 400 up front works great. Its slammed, but the wake is amazing. Big and LONG, way long. Watch the video. We have more video coming. We are going out every day this week, Dennis is here, Chris Martinez is coming up today for the weekend, we are RE breaking the sucker in and learning to dial it in with this new setup. On dennis second run we dialed it in for him, and he was just hanging out about 25 feet back or so. Pretty fun. You can see in the attachment it is slammed. School is in, midweek, no one is out, so its all good. But at this level I wouldn't consider it a "family" surf boat. The RZ2 takes that prize for us. Still lots of room, and when we weight the RZ2 for a great wake, its not slammed.
So here is a video still frame of the 24Ve slammed: http://wake9-2011-media.s3.amazonaws...ammed_24Ve.jpg And this is what the RZ2 looked like weighted about the same angle: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4114/...269cf149_b.jpg IMG_3303 by wake9, on Flickr And this is a pic of the RZ2 weighted and running, you can see that the RZ2 was always at the "kiss the rub rail" point, which is very comfortable, and family friendly IMHO: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/...a2bc1250_b.jpg PB2010-wake9-Sat-wm-2155 by wake9, on Flickr We don't have pics of the 24Ve with the new setup in chase yet, but its slammed. Not for the average family. |
when you say slammed.... i only calculated that to be 1900 lbs. it is for sure listed, no argument here on that. when we surf we are at 2500 to get to the rub rail (04 sante 210) and i here of guys running more than that.. i guess im just surprise that you call that slammed is all.
|
I run 3k and my rub rail isn't under water on my Tige 24v. But on my centurion avalanche 2k and the rubrail was totally underwater.
|
glad you dialed in the 24 Ve. But to be honest, I think you need to compare the last pic of the RZ2 and the 1st pic of the 24ve. Both of those pics seem to have a comparable people weight in the back corner:)
Must be nice have two great surf boats! |
When I say slammed, I am referring more to the boats attitude, how it is affected, then how it is waited. To get that wave, we are running about 1500 in the locker surf side and then about 4-500 lbs in the opposing locker. then about 600 lbs of people on goofy seat, or other. Then, another 300 or so on the rear seat in the center. Then 400 lbs up front.
1450 450 600 350 400 ======= 3250 Wow, never quite added all of that up. Its slammed. ;-) But the wake is longer and about the same height as the RZ2. I bet if we took the weight out of the front it would be taller than RZ2, may try that for sh*ts and giggles. The RZ2 would probably sink with that, not sure. No joke, I can get in the boat by just rolling up to the swim deck and turning around and sitting down. I have NEVER been able to do that on any boat. But the wave is SOOO long and very powerful. My kids are surfing for long sessions, without falling. RJ did 5 360s in a row, and semi flubbed 2 of them. He would have fallen out on those on the RZ2. We will have more video soon. Chris Martinez just got here and going out after a meeting. We are really figuring out fine placement of weight and what the boat needs to keep that power. Prob have the video sometime tomorrow. |
I should add that I would recommend the RZ2 over the Ve any day. Safe amount of weight IMHO and so easy to get that wake, just buy the boat, swap the sacs and go. We are just having fun with this. We decided we were going to go all out on the Ve, and really see what it could do.
These bigger boats are fun, but just seem to take a ton of weight to really shine. |
@jkw, yes it is nice. I just understood what you meant about comparing pics. The one with Bre standing up, there was also lead in the boat on that day, so it is comparable.
|
Finishing up a phone meeting, boring...
I took a still frame of dennis second session when we got it dialed in for him. He was a bit tired but able to chill at the back of the wave. I will follow this up with video, he is NOT falling back, just chilling, and goes back to this point a couple times and just rides back up without pumping. Boat is perfectly straight, no kinks, no turns. Dennis is 280 lbs riding a bazooka. http://wake9-2011-media.s3.amazonaws...nnis_chill.jpg |

Cherry on top
Here's the kicker....
I filled up a couple days ago at 539 hours. I just filled up now at 548.6 and took 36 gallons to top off. That's 3.75 GPH for 2 5 hour sessions with 3250 lbs of weight! It's sipping gas. |
So we tested the new ballast system (with motor running):
Front (400lbs horshoe sac): 2:30 Regular side (1500lbs) fill with booster pump from empty: 6:45 Transfer from Regular to Goofy: 3:47 Transfer from Goofy to Regular: 4:00 Blew me away. |
|
to all:
What speeds are you guys running at in these pictures? |
12.5-12.7. This isn't GPS based so hopefully it's accurate on my boat:)
|
12 on ours, but did test up to 13, just got longer. I checked our speed against gps, was almost right on.
|
92Maristar, what boat is that and how is it weighted?
|
11-11.7 on our 20V assuming the PP is accurate.
|

It's an 06 Mastercraft X30 and has the stock hard tank and a custom enzo style 1400 lb sac from wakemakers so right about 1700. The photo is with 2 adults in the boat. |
Sick wave Maristar!!.....looks like you were turning in the pic a bit or no?
