In Wakeboard Magazine, Ive seen several wakeskaters with some Nike Wakeskating shoes on (and they look cool). Does anyone have a URL or know where I can read about them? I know that they are called Nike 6 "Air Insurgants" or something, but when I look them up online all I see is skate shoes. They look like they would be heavy and not drain water well -- is there a specific kid that is available FOR wakeskating? Any urls or thoughts would be helpful....

http://www.nike.com/nke6/v3/

Nike 6.0 shoes are skate shoes from what I understand but are becoming a popular wakeskate shoe. I have never tried them so I don't really know how they perform. I use Adio Quest shoes which are a skate shoe, but are great for water also.

I don't think Adio is making the Quest shoes this year.

The only shoes i've considered thus far are the DVS mesh type shoes -- they look like they would dry and drain water easily.

Just curious if the nikes were like that or not.

The DVS are the way to go, they have two for this year:
The Triumph Mesh
The Volari Mesh

so i've been wondering whatsup with 6.0? can anyone explain why they are gettin pop? All i remember back in the day is that Nike did not like skaters and refused to acknowledge skating or snow as a culture, and here we are now... they do look pretty tight though

Actually, nike was trying to break into the skate industry for years. Skateboarding was an industry that pretty much supported itself and that made alot of people rich. Once the big money started flowing it wasn't long before greed overcame integrity and nike was able to get in the door. Now they have "jocks suck" ads, and every little wannabe craving for the newest sweatshop limited edition kicks.....

(Message edited by cmawsr on May 10, 2007)

Hey Guys,
I thought I'd fill you in on what I know. I just spoke with my the Nike 6.0 Rep.....and from what I was told they are going to start to focus on key shop in the coming months. I've been inquiring about getting them for about 2 years now as some of our team riders have been part of their team and even gotten a pair of them through them. But, as I understand it, they simply hadn't put a sales team into place and as their focus has been on marketing, the only place you could find the shoes was on Nike's site and at majors like Zumies and Pac Sun. Which always baffled me as you would think they would want to start their entry in shops selling skates / supporting that lifestyle. That said, this is going to change in the coming months. They will be rolling out the product to a very select group of pro shops, offering alot of limited edition models to keep it super fresh and clean. They followed this with the Nike SB program and put the key shoes in core skate shops only. They said this has worked extremely well. I'll update you as I know more....but in the mean time....Matt Manzari was in the shop the other day and I saw some of his new limited edition shoes and they look great. And I spoke to Silas, their team manager, at the Wake Games, and think you will see lots more great things to come. I'll keep you posted as I know more.

Bill @ Performance

PS: For those of you looking for some new shoes, I've just added UGP's new models and will be putting up some new styles from DVS later tonight.
