I don't know why boat/boardrack companies insist on making things mechanical and complicated. I think the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principal is the best. I have never had problems with a bungie cord style board rack. Never. Not one single failure. Never. Nada. I drive with my boards in the board racks everywhere. Thats many, many weeks and thousands of miles over many years. <BR> <BR>It is time for me to buy a 2003 X-2. I don't want the boat for the simple reason it is the same as the 2001, and 2002--just with cruddy board racks. <BR> <BR>The 2004 racks look a little nicer, but they look a lot less functional. Anyone 100% confident the boards will in stay in the racks through rough water or bouncy roads. I know I am not. <BR> <BR>The bungie straps offered physical restraint--the new method uses only friction. Why do I think the force required to move an unlocked handle or slide the board is far less than force needed to snap a bungie cord? <BR> <BR>As a side note--Mastercraft is offering the bungie style board racks as well. I will be getting the reliable style on my 2003. <BR> <BR>My only thinking is the designer that did the messed up ballast tanks for so many years got put on board rack design when MC decided to license PureVert. The guy shoudl get a job at Hyperlight designing bindings! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/crazy.gif" border=0>

Personally, I’m very tired of bungie cord racks and the constant balancing act you have to do to get boards in and out of racks. This design looks as if you can release the board from the inside of the tower and simply reach up and pull them down, if it’s as simple as that I’m all for it. I actually applaud MC for at least trying to advance there product and something as simple as that may sway me towards an X2 in a few months

I just spent the last 5 days on a 2003 X-10 that we picked up last week. I feel that the ratchet style board rack is LIGHT YEARS ahead of any bungee style rack, and it holds the board very securely. <BR> <BR>I guess it all just depends on what you prefer. I can't imagine the rack in the above pictures are going work real well, but who knows?

I have to agree with Bobo, <BR>The fork/bungee racks are a pain. <BR>I bought the Invert racks a couple of months ago and love them. MC is always trying to come up with something new and original, that's how this sport and the equipment will grow. <BR>BTW, one of the guys at the local board shop got popped in the eye a few weeks ago with a bungee strap as he was trying to load a board on. Pretty severe injury from what I hear.
