I'm possibly leaving from my parents in Morgan Hill to go to Don Pedro. I will NOT be pulling our boat. What is the best/fastest route there?
Thanks,
Laurie

101 south all the way till you see the signs to turn to the lake.

She's talking about Pedro, not Anderson.

152 or the Altamont, it's about the same amount of time each way. Might as well do 152, since you're already there.

Take your pick.

101 North
680 North
580 East
5 South
132 East

or

101 South
152 East
5 North
132 East

or

Do a http://maps.yahoo.com from your parents address to La Grange, CA

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I didn't know if it was the same distance or not. Have any of you taken the cut off that comes off of 152 after Los Banos and puts you on 99 around Turlock? I have never taken it and wonder if its a time saver or a slow farm road? I think its called 33 or 133, not sure. If you've taken it whats your opinion on it?
There is also a little know hwy 59 that is a straight shot to Don Pedro. Take 152 through Los Banos then 59 north. It is mostly a 2 lane highway that is a fun drive assuming that you do not get stuck behind a truck, but that is true for almost any route to Don Pedro.

los banos is way out the way. you should go through oakdale on highway 108

payne - She's already at Los Bathroom when she comes across hwy 152 at San Luis Resevoir. My 2 cents: 152-59 like Rene said. Your bound to miss all the highway wallys if you stay on the backroad!! Good luck , drive safe, 152 is a speedway!!!

laurie:

I used to live in Morgan Hill and we would go to MClure right next to Don Pedro.

I would take 101 south to 152 east. Go all the way into Los Banos (right through the middle of town...don't blink or you'll miss it.) Proceed about 10 miles east out of Los Banos and hit 59 north to Merced.

Check this out:
http://westcoastcamps.com/location/map.htm

Allow about 3 hours driving time.

(Message edited by jklein on May 20, 2004)
