How to learn about boat care and servicing

I am trying to learn more about boat care and how to fix small things on boats. What suggestions do you guys have? Books? Videos?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

The resources available depend on the boat and engine manufacture. Brand specific forums are a great place for service information, the book linked below was handy for me as I have a indmar engine, and most helpful is just doing a general google search e.g. "how to change impeller indmar 350. I'm far from mechanically inclined but these my 350 is pretty straight forward and a lot of stuff you can do yourself with some prep/studying. Good luck

You can read all the books and watch all the videos you want to get some ideas but at the end of the day you have to just start tinkering. I would say having a basic principal of 12 volt wiring would be good to know. If you are wanting to learn about your boat motor maybe try finding someone else that lives close to you that could do an oil change and impeller change with you the first time to show you a step by step. For the most part all of these motor are pretty much the same just different configurations or locations of parts. Otherwise forums like WW here and brand specific ones ie Tigeowners, malibucrew, MCteamtalk can also be great resources pending your make of boat. Pretty much anything you are needing to do or learn is documented on one these forums. Otherwise it just takes time and you will learn as new problems arise and you have to fix them.
