09 F250 blowing white smoke again

So the story continues....I have noticed that the truck as been running a little sluggish lately and then last night on my drive out of town I was forced to slow down considerably and when I went to get back onto it the truck had no get up and go and the pedal was on the floor. I looked back in the rear view mirror and all I saw was white smoke pouring out of the exhaust. I then backed off of it and it was fine. I called the dealership today and naturally they want to see it and their initial explanation is either oil or blown injector. Any other thoughts? It has close to 60,000 on it.....

I think those engines are known for this (expensive) problem. Get your wallet ready, my friend.

check the glow plugs and the timing!

white or white/blue?

could be blown head gasket/ coolant getting into combustion chamber. that makes a whiteish smoke. have you checked your coolant levels?

well hopefully this one will be on ford being as though its still under my extended 200,000 mile warranty. havent checked the coolant levels but i will. they just replaced a radiator hose that was leaking. guess its going into the shop

Just checked the coolant level and its low but the truck is not running hot. Any suggestions from here. Hate to go in and the dealer tells me nothing is wrong as usual! Thanks again

Sounds like head or intake manifold gasket.

Chris,
If the coolant level is low then you are likely burning coolant. The engine will not run hot because the water pump is still circulating coolant but some is getting consumed in the cylinders while it is running. The likely cause is a cylinder head gasket like Jay said or a crack in the actual cylinder head. Unfortunately you cannot smell the smoke to tell if it is coolant or fuel caused by a broken injector. The low power issue you mentioned makes me want to say it is a fuel issue. Either way Ford will be able to address the issue, good luck. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I am in the heavy duty diesel engine industry for a living.
