Have you guys heard about them closing indian slough and regulating some of our favorite areas in the delta? Check out the link if you are intrested. There is a huge public objection from the water skiers of the area and hopefully we can get our groups involved as well.

http://www.westsideconnection.net/NEWS.htmL

Thanks for the link J. From what I understand they are not trying to make it a 5 MPH zone, just a no ski/pull/ride zone, I could be wrong though?

A

The Board of Supervisors unanimously backed the ban on Tuesday. Here is the link to the story in the Contra Costa Times.
http://www.contracostatimes.com/easterncontracosta/ci_5908160

While it appears their intentions are good, it is absurd to say that Indian Slough is always congested. In my opinion, it would be more appropriate to place this restriction with time limitations, such as holidays and seasonal weekends. It would be unfortunate to lose this area for riding.

I love that they mention the accidents and fatalities along that stretch, but fail to mention whether or not they involved riders being towed. If anything they should make it a 5 mph zone for yachts. The most dangerous moments I've seen is when small boats are overtaken by the big boats. I think that if they must, they should enforce the ban on weekends. Riding in that slough on weekends is rediculous and yet we still see idiots doing it. That, or towing tubers through there at 5 mph. I love that one, too.
