Does anyone know if Malibu changed their ballast pumps from 06. I have heard that the Malibu pumps were failing out pretty quick. Does anyone have any news on this?
I think that is the old MC ballast pumps you are thinking of.
I agree with Matt. Haven't heard very many stories of Malibu pumps going out, but MC's pumps have had a problem with their impellers. For 2007 MC changed out the pumps to ones that have auto shut offs and should cut down, if not eliminate, impeller burn outs. Any owners of 07 MC's have anything to say on the new pumps? If they work like they say so, it sounds like something everyone will be doing soon.

Even if the Malibu pump fails, it's a $35 pump.
Its 35 bucks because it says livewell on it.
The new mc pumps do have auto shutoff after a few minutes if you forget about them. They seem to work well.
Which pumps does Malibu use?
LIVEWELL pumps. You can buy them at West Marine or Walmart

The 06 Malibu has the piranha pumps in them. They have not changed them to my knowledge. I have had to replace one but that was because I docked the boat and left the thing on for an hour with no water. I don't know of any pump that will not freeze up if left on for to long. Just don't forget to turn them off. If you do there not that expensive $50.00.

Nice going Timmy!<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0> <BR>What's up dude?
john prine, are you buying a Malibu or what? You are asking all these Malibu bashing questions? I have owned a Malibu for years and never had a pump fail. The new Piranha pumps work very well in my opinion.
