That's awesome! I wish our lab would do that!!!

salsajs3030 09-09-2008 9:01 PM

Aside from that being a super cool pic...how in the hell did you get your wake that big? What kind of boat, how much weight do you put in it, and where do you put the weight?

greatdane 09-09-2008 10:36 PM

Awesome! That dog must trust you!

pottsy 09-10-2008 6:33 AM

Awesome, and second what Justin said. How did you get that wake so big???

kylielogan 09-10-2008 6:37 AM

that's a great pic!

eas 09-10-2008 7:28 AM

dang....I should have said it before I looked because I was right --> Centurion.....at least that's his profile boat.

salsajs3030 09-10-2008 8:37 AM

...yeah, should have looked at the profile...but hey, Rocky, how do you weight your boat -you got it down man!

cmcathy1 09-10-2008 9:35 AM

Thanks, yeah it's behind my 2003 Avy from my profile pic. I've got the stock center and rear locker ballast full + a 350 in the rear locker + another 350 across the rear seat. And I ride at 11.7. It doesn't take a lot to get a great surf wake out of an Avy.

fly135 09-10-2008 9:59 AM

Awesome wake and great pic.

jame04 09-10-2008 10:14 AM

do you carry the dog and just slide off the back swim deck???

jon4pres 09-10-2008 10:16 AM

Yea how do you get started?

cmcathy1 09-10-2008 10:24 AM

No, I thought about trying that but since she weights almost 80 pounds I decided against it. So I deep water started and got her up on the first try. She's a natural. I have a video of it that I'm going to try to post to Vimeo tonight; I'll post the link once I do.

greers_ferry_boats 09-10-2008 12:34 PM

That is awesome! Don't forget you had 5 or 6 people in the boat too.

cmcathy1 09-10-2008 1:42 PM

Ahhh...that's a minor detail. Ha Ha Ha yeah I did have a few people in the boat. But, if I'm short on people, that's when I fill up the ole 540 and throw it in the floor.

llewis 09-10-2008 2:04 PM

I have an 03 Avalanche also. Way to represent!!

burbanized 09-10-2008 3:25 PM

Thats awsome

kimmy 09-10-2008 5:14 PM

How do I train my choc lab to do that. She goes crazy when I am out riding. I think she would love it cause she hates to be away from me. She will not jump off the boat cause she knows the rules but if she was able to ride with me, I think she would be happy and love it. I love this pic.

jujube 09-10-2008 6:34 PM

dtb 09-12-2008 6:43 AM

greers_ferry_boats 09-12-2008 7:11 AM

Yea like Dtb said where is the vid or is that just a photoshopped pic? What up D1!

dtb 09-12-2008 7:45 AM

D2, what's up. I was just in Rogers, AR yesterday for work. I need to get down there to visit you guys soon! Hope everything is going well....

greers_ferry_boats 09-12-2008 10:14 AM

Yea everything is going good, you need to come for sure.

cmcathy1 09-12-2008 7:28 PM

Alright, I just posted the video. The video is of our first time, so you’ll notice that it’s not the smoothest get up (which is why my wife is laughing at me the whole time) and that the wake is much smaller than in the photo. We only had the stock rear ballast full; I didn’t want to get too crazy on our first time. But since the wake drew as much attention as having the doggy on the board with me; I added some footage of the surf wake at the end.

http://vimeo.com/1720645

canadian_waterboy 09-12-2008 7:38 PM

I love your dog! Our dog won't even jump off the dock, never mind a 10 foot cliff!

cmcathy1 09-12-2008 7:54 PM

Thanks, it's funny because we have two dogs and they are brother and sister. The boy is the one at the beginning just floating and the one that jumped off the cliff, but he wouldn't dare wake surf with me. On the other hand, the girl won't jump off cliffs but loves getting behind the boat.

greers_ferry_boats 09-13-2008 7:45 AM

I like the soundtrack!

leigh 09-13-2008 9:20 AM

Lily is sooo cute!!! How old is she? Our lab is 6 years old. Is that too old to teach dogs new tricks??

player138 09-13-2008 10:44 AM

Amazing! My dog won't even get her paws wet.. I think she'd find a new best friend if I tried to pull that off

blastmaster 09-15-2008 2:07 PM

Mad props for including the dogs out on the boat. I take ours all the time and people trip. Then I have some buddies that would'nt even consider having a dog on the boat. I think the dogs like it more than we do sometimes.
I can send either of my labs from the back of the boat to the shore being like 50ft away and tell them to "take a break" and they will do exactally that then come back after going potty. People trip out but they just want to go and will pretty much do what I tell them to. stay in the boat @ a marina, load up, get out, whatever just to be included. Then the ride home in the truck looks like this........

That is so cool. I'm going to show this video to my yellow lab. Can't get him off the swim deck without a hot dog on a stick.
