Battery boxes

Interested in seeing what guys have done in terms of custom battery boxes. At the moment i have a couple of the ugly black plastic ones.

The plan is to make a couple out of either alloy or wood (carpeted) to reduce the overall amount of space and make the batteries easier to remove in the tight space under the seat.

Any ideas or pics would be great.

Wood must be laminated as batteries SHALL be secured in acid proof trays. Be sure to provide good ventilation and follow the rules for disconnect and over-current protection. Avoid mounting the batteries directly under anything you dont want corroded as the common lead acid batts will off gas when charging.
I have seen boats on this forum with in-deck battery boxes, clear lids and LED lights. Pretty glitzy stuff. Somebody will find the pics Im sure.

I always thought these were cool, powder-coated any color you want...

Flooded Lead-Acid batteries need to be in a well-ventilated location, as they often vent gas. You have a few more options with sealed batteries. We offer billet hold-downs for most of our batteries, and they fit standard group sizes made by other manufacturers as well. We also offer stamped steel "boxes" that are easy to fabricate into custom mounts.
