Looking for good ballast options. Saw and add for Lead Barz - 60 lbs plastic coated - which looked good because of teh size, but the website never responded with a price or how they ship them. Any other compact ballast options that fit in the storage areas. Trying to avoid gas cans, extra fat sacs, etc.

Search the archives, this has been discussed lot's in the past.

Depends on where you live, lead is too expensive to ship. Old tire weights are about the most popular but begging at the local tire shops gets old after about 200lbs.

I have a good local metal scrapper that has ample supplies of 40lb lead bars, they cost about $25 ea. Check the phone book and call some metal surplus dealers within a drive from your house.

Lead shot used for refilling shotgun shells come in 25lb bags, they become 26lb after wrapping them real good in duct tape :-) I got 10 bags at a garage sale, and we use tire weights in 50lb "wraps" also.

Lead like many materials have been going up pretty fast over the last year so the people selling "ready to us" ballast lead seem to have all left the market, cant really make a buck at it.

If you are located any where near michigan, my good friend makes 50lb steel shot bags. they are designed in a way that if you drop one on your foot it isnt going to break any bones or chip your boat at all. I put 500lb of them in the front of my 2004 B-52 under the seat where there isnt much room. feel free to call them if you want. Aqua Sports Marine in Fenton Mich. 810-629-2800

Sorry I'm not gonna get this plug right, but there's a guy in Certral Cali that's offering the equivalent of ballast sacs full of shot. Now, of course, they're not BIG, but a great, tough, sealed sac full of lead shot is just about as good as it can get. Not real cheap, but SUPER nice. If I find his info, I'll post.
