Has any one ever been boardin' on Texoma? I'm looking to plan a 4-5 day trip for next year, Powell and Texoma are about the same distance of a drive (12hrs from Colorado).Thoughts on which lake is better?

ummmmm Powell all the way!

Powell is way down so this would be a concern. Do some checking. Powell is huge with tons of coves, cliffs, and unique terrian. It is hot, miles from anywhere, and zero development on the shoreline.

Texoma has lots of sandy beachs with some fun Islands. More traffic, less remote, lots of camping available. East and West Burns on the OK side have hookups and is a Corps park. Not really a "boaders paradise" per se, but a great lake. I drove over the dam last night at is was glass as far as I could see. It gets some wind, but you can usually find some good water if you know where to look.

Tablerock in MO is very nice, and I have several spots in AR that are awesome. A little too far to drive maybe?

I agree with Bruce, not really a "boaders paradise". I am sure there is some glass there, being that the lake is so huge. There are some nice sandy coves though.

Texoma bites, really crappy water and hard to find any butter..ever! If you are traveling this far I would recommend going to the Brazos river around the TinTop area (weatherford), Ray Roberts (around denton) or Lake Murray (southern Oklahoma) A few of these may be an hour or two further but if youre traveling that far you really want good water. If you want any more info on any of these give me an email or PM.

Thanks for the info, the trip is still in the planning stage, just looking to check out some bigger water.
