where in the world did you find a Canon 70-300mm lens for $200?

a lens in that range made by Canon will run you a bit more than $1K. the Canon lens is more expensive than other companies' lenses, but you really get what you pay for.

check out www.bhphoto.com

You can pick up the 70-200L f/4 USA Canon for around sixish The F/2 is better but more $$$
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=18 3198&is=USA

Scott - Canon makes different grades of lenses, so you can get one for less than $200 -
lens.

Rohan I would take Walts advise and get a 70-200L F4 - plenty of reach for wakeboarding and excellent quality. If you are shooting indoor shorts or at night, you may want the F2.8, but much more money.

Rohan, check out http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/ for reviews and prices on different lenses for canon cameras. On there it shows that the "70-300 DO IS USM" lens is about $1200 on average. I would take walt and dave's advice and go for the 70-200 F4, I'm about to buy one myself. The F2.8 is almost twice the price of the F4, and the F2.8 IS is even more than that. I have seen many pics taken with the 70-200 and they are phenominal, I will be buying that lens soon. It seems to be one of the favorites of sports photographers.

i dont think he was talking about the canon L lense. My sister has a 70-300 f5.6. its not all that good but for what she uses it for its good enough.

Canon's current low end zoom is a 75-300, I believe Scott is correct that the only current 70-300 Canon makes is the DO IS model.

You don't really need f2.8 for shooting wakeboarding as someone pointed out above or IS for that matter.
