I wrecked my prop pretty good at Oroville a week ago. So I picked up the Acme 857 (13.25 x 15.5 vs. stock which is 14 x 20) which wakeside.com recommends (not the exact reason I got it). Took the boat out for the first time with the new prop and fully weighted, 2500+ lbs of ballast, the boat is running 3700 rpms at 23.5 mph. So my question is, is this expectable or should I get another prop? It seems as though this is going to ruin our gph, although the boat rockets out of the hole, so is this just the price we will pay?

Shawn,

I talked to Bill Weeks at Acme about that prop and he stated that was all they used to have to offer for that much weight. He recommended the 1235 (14.5 x 14.25) for my '01 205V pushing about 2,000 lbs of ballast + people & gear. At 24.5 I tach about 34500 (almost 35000) at 23.5 about 34000 which is an increase of about 350 RPM over stock but it's like I've got a big block coming out of the hole. The boat turns better (less high side) so overall very pleased with it. I'd give it a try before setting on your 857. Same awesome hole shot but better upper RPM range. Give Bill Weeks a call at Acme to confim.

Gordon,

Thank you for the info. Now seeing some of your numbers though kind of puts me at ease. With how much weight we run (no less than 2500-2600lbs of just ballast) the rpms are only 400 revs higher than with the stock prop. So with how much faster the boat gets out of the water and on plane, I guess its worth it. Though we shall see how much more gas it uses.
