I'm looking for a 2000 or newer boat mainly for wakeboarding but also enjoy skiing the course from time to time. Not sure if the SAN, Malibu VLX or others would work.

mastercraft prostar, its a three event boat (wakeboarding, barefooting, slalom skiing)

X-2.

The only v drive i would look at now for skiing is the 211. I have a 210, but don't really do a lot of skiing now because the wake is just to big most of the time. I tested the 211, and the wake is much better. I just hate the look of the 211 though.

My next boat will probably be a 216.

The X-2 sits on the 205 hull, which is AWSA approved. If you get two people in the boat and run at or above 32, the wake is non-existant.

I agree with Psudy, the X-2. Here are a couple of pictures of the wake on my 2005 X-2.

The Centurion Elite V.
It has the best of both worlds.

Danny T.

Tige can change on the fly from Wakeboarding to Slalom.
http://www.tige.com

Sanger V210. People have mentioned other boats. My dad has a Prostar 205 which is the X-2 but in a direct drive, he hates how big the ski wake is & it's not even a v-drive. The Centurion will get it done but the wakeboard wake sucks the big one, my roommate has one and I've got plenty of time on it & it is no bueno. The Sanger V210 however has a wakeboard wake to rival A Super Air and the ski wake is incredible. Take a look, you will be amazed.

psudy 08-08-2005 10:29 AM

Is your dad skiing at 28mph? I use to have a 205dd, and it threw a great wake for skiing. We generally run 34-36 in the course, maybe that is the difference.

Malibu Sunscape 21 LSV with ballast and wedge makes for the best crossover boat. V drive for wakeboarding but with a skier friendly hull design. Best of both worlds.

Just like a wakeboard wake, I'm sure a lot of this is preference. You favorite may not be someone elses favorite.

I will second what Big Heavy says, I have done both behind a V210 and it works well.

stephan 08-08-2005 11:36 AM

My dad skis at 34-35, not on the course. He says there is a depression in the wake where it dips down.

x2momma 08-08-2005 12:28 PM

Big Heavy - What rope length is he using? 3 or 4 blade prop? We used to have a 97 205 and there is a difference in the wake between the two props.

psudy 08-08-2005 12:50 PM

This is all coming down to personal opinion. Go test drive the above mentioned boats and see what you like better.

We went through the same crossover selection and decited on the Supra 22 SSV. 34mph wakeplate 100% down. A+

mmobius2001 08-09-2005 12:13 PM

yeah i'd go w/ supra, moomba boats, my mobius wake can be huge or w/ no weight and plate down it can be nothing.
