If they are all 4 ohm speakers: 1 pair on chnl 1 and 2, 1 pair wired parallel (+ to +/- to -) on chnl 3 and 3rd pair same way on chnl 4

sorry should said they are the polk db651

If they are all 4 ohm speakers: 1 pair on chnls 1 and 2, 2nd pair wired parallel (+to+/-to-) on chnl 3, 3rd pair same way on chnl 4.

EDIT: the Db's are 4 ohm.

So I need three sets of wires running up my tower instead of the two I have now.

If all 6 are going on the tower, then you will need 4 speaker wire pairs - one for speaker 1, one for speaker 2, one for speakers 3/4 and one for speakers 5/6. You have a 4 chnl amp and all 4 chnls will be used.

Well, If they are all on the tower, you will need 4 wire runs total. Two for the two speakers running at 4 ohm and two for the other 4 speakers running at 2 ohm. Or can wire them in a series/parallel seaquence that will net you around 2.6 ohms. You would need to wire 2 of the speakers in series and the third in parallel. That way you would only need to use one wire run per side up the tower.

Although this method will work, it only utilizes 2 of the 4 chnls, and each speaker will only net about 30 watts rms each. IMP, it would be better to leave off one pair and then wire the other 2 pair one speaker p/chnl and then the 4 get 70 watts each.

Very true, just giving all the possible options, seems like he didn't wanna run the extra wires? I dunno. Me personally, I wouldn't waist my time only running even 70 per driver to a tower speaker. Unless it was for looks mostly I guess. I would most likely look for a bigger amp. but I understand sometimes budget dictates.

If you search on the internet now you can find the Alpine PDX-2.150 for less than 200 new (~190) and the PDX-4.150 for less than 400 new (~340) ... that is total shipped price.

The Alpine 2chnl would only net him 50 watts rms to each speaker, not a lot of increase for the cost of an additional amp since it looks like he already owns the 700.5. IMO, a 2chnl that would do 250 watts RMS x 2 @ 2ohm IS the best way to go for what you want to do, but the PDX 2.150 is not enough amp and neither is using 2 chnls of the 700.5.

The 4.150 would be the same power to each speaker if the parallel/series 2.6 config was used using only 2 chnls and IMO, 150 watts to each speaker @ 4 ohm is too much for the DB's.

thanks for the info guys. I going to play around with them tonight and see what works the best.
