For several years now I’ve been calling my Centurion Lighting the “Mighty Centurion.” I’ve made that exclamation often enough that I’m hearing others also referring to my boat as the “Mighty Centurion” as well. I just traded her in for an ’06 Enzo 230. So now I guess I’ll have to call the new boat (new to me) the Mighty Enzo

I’ve been active in the Midwest organizing wakeboarding and wakesurfing events for a couple of years. I’ve made a near complete transition from wakeboarding to wakesurfing. Since the Enzo has an amazing wakesurf reputation I’ve had my eye on the Enzo for, well, several years. Nate, at CBK Watersports in Tennessee, helped make this dream come true.

Over the last few years I’ve corresponded with Nate within this forum several times. I haven’t met Nate yet but I kind of feel like I already know him, a little anyway. It’s cool to see that he’s as active in the online community as I am.

Here’s my Mighty Centurion. She’s been a great boat and the source of a lot of enjoyment and pride. The first year I had her, my skills and my crew’s skills improved dramatically. Hit Nate up if you’re looking for a V-drive to take you’re skills to the next level. (Nate your email is bouncing.)

Here’s a few pictures of my first Centurion, the Mighty Centurion. She's loaded up pretty good - more here: http://www.wakesiderides.com/rides/index.php?page=out&id=951

My Avalanche and Lightning

FAE for surfing

That's a good surf wake

If you’re in the Midwest this summer and enter a wakesurfing competition you might be surfing behind the Mighty Enzo. Here's how my Avalanche looked towing the black Avalanche that pulled at the NWL Wakesurf Nationals last year. The Mighty Enzo should look pretty good too. I should be picking up the Enzo next week.

dwakesetter 03-07-2008 4:56 AM

Ed, I am the new Knoxville Centurion dealer and I am located at Stardust Marina on Norris lake. Let me know if I can help out with the ice breaker.

Gratz dude!

redsupralaunch 03-07-2008 6:47 AM

CONGRATS ED!

sailing216 03-07-2008 6:54 AM

Congrats. Keep us posted on all the mods and how you're weighing the boat.

Maybe start a surf rack group buy. I'm in for 1 or 2.

Does your trade-in have surf racks that don't fit the Enzo tower? PM me if the don't work and want a few bucks. I'm good on wake racks.

Your Avalanche towing my Avalanche looks good. I have a blue SUV so it won't look as nice.

bigshow 03-07-2008 9:25 AM

Doug,

I've been running a couple of email threads. One is a local riders thread. The other is wakesurf event planning thread. If you'd like I'll include you on the planning one. This will be the second year for the Ice Breaker. Last year was only about a dozen surfers. If you have local riders that would like to surf with us or If you wanted to join us we'd be happy to have the company. I'll have more details for you later.

Salty, I can't speak for what a 240 sells for. I know that the St. Louis dealer and the Kentukiana dealer have some 2007 230s at killer prices.

ktoby@ken tuckianayacht.com
Don.Hol tzinger@microsoft.com

Anyone that knows what I did with the Lightning and it’s wake knows there will be some experimenting with the Mighty Enzo.

Racks, Hmmm… the wife is still getting over new boat shock. Might have to wait on some of the other toys.

sk_centurion 03-07-2008 9:37 AM

Congrats Ed!! I know you have been wanting an Mighty Enzo for awhile!! You will need more racks as well as an Enzo sack!! Im very Jealous!! I have been looking into Enzo as well and getting rid of my Mighty Lightning!!!

sk_centurion 03-07-2008 9:41 AM

HIJACK!! Ed did you check out the new Centurion website? www.centurioncrew.com

bigshow 03-07-2008 9:52 AM

Jay, I have three FH 750, two FH 400, and 270 pounds of bag weight plus dual stock ballast. I probably won't buy an Enzo sack soon.

I have been talking to the guys at Pivotal designs. Pivotal makes the Switch Blade for Centurion. They are coming out with a new “Surf Blade”? I might bite off on that and do the install myself.

I'm on the new Centurion site. Who's running it?

daler 03-07-2008 9:56 AM

I'm far from being a boat expert but I recently bought an Enzo 240 and love it. I hope you enjoy yours as much. Congratulations!

Here's a picture of the one I bought

sk_centurion 03-07-2008 11:38 AM

ED

You should have a nice surf wake with all that ballast!! I know you will have that thing dialed soon!!
Im not sure who is running the new Centurion site but its been along time coming!

Dale sweet enzo I like the clean look!!

daler 03-07-2008 12:22 PM

Thanks Jay.

When I ordered it, I was a little unsure of how the boat would look with no graphics, logos etc. but I also like how it turned out.

mhetheridge 03-07-2008 1:15 PM

Ed that looks almost like my enzo. Sweet.

dwakesetter 03-07-2008 2:47 PM

Here is one that we just got in.

Ed, I sent you an email.

03-07-2008 2:59 PM

Time for a new truck to match. That what every one tells me at least

bigshow 03-07-2008 3:38 PM

No Chris, no new trucks. My wife is still in new boat shock and we're sending the kids to college.

Matt, nice ballast system.

The red stripe has a very clean look.

Doug, I was toying with the Ovation graphic a while ago.

A little Orca Theme

superairdawg 03-07-2008 3:47 PM

Hey Ed, congrats on the new boat! I guess we won't be seeing you on Griggs any more since you're now longer than 22'. You planning on making Alum your new home base?

redsupralaunch 03-07-2008 3:54 PM

Ed - be sure to hook up with Doug on this post. We did an NWL together in Knoxville and had a great time! I would love to do one on Norris if we could find a location but I havnt found the site yet.

bigshow 03-07-2008 4:36 PM

I'm on Griggs less and less anyway. The rowers demonize me for my wake. They made enough noise that it's become difficult to request marine event permits and work with the city. Now keep in mind that there are top notch rowing clubs across the country that row with ocean going vessels, naval ships, and coal barges in the same channel. I find it amazing that the Mighty Centurion wake is lager than the wake of a Navel Destroyer. I told you guys these Centurions were Mighty

Chris I'm happy to include Doug - email has been returned. Is your Bro Randy the one with the Centurion Elite V? Randy's in TN, right?

duramat 03-07-2008 6:39 PM

Ed congrats on the new boat! I do prefer that tower (looks wise) and your colors are awesome.

lknboarder 03-07-2008 6:58 PM

nice upgrade lets see some surf wake pics

bigshow 03-07-2008 7:16 PM

I haven't picked up the boat yet. We're supposed to have a Blizzard tonight. I think its going to be a few days before I'm making a surf wake.

steedracer 03-07-2008 9:44 PM

Ed, Great boat!! I saw her a couple of weeks ago when I stopped by and said hello to Nate. Nice boat (I was even thinking of trading up }. You won't have to fool with the FAE now that you've got Sideswipe. Let us know what you think of it. Nate is a great guy, with a great dealership.

Also, thanks for your technical posts; I enjoy reading them!

Enjoy the Mighty E!

2007_x2 03-08-2008 2:33 AM

congrats on the new boat!

superairdawg 03-08-2008 4:42 AM

Well, just like we're spoiled with regulations banning jet skis, monster boats and tubers, our rowers are spoiled for the same reasons. From the sound of it, that "Mighty" Enzo would likely throw a surf tsunami that would likely get surfing banned from the river anyway.

Grats again on the new ride!!

cbk 03-08-2008 8:03 AM

Ed - email is fixed....I had gone over my limit.

bigshow 03-08-2008 8:23 AM

Joe, jet skis were banned from Griggs when fishermen and one of Columbus’s finest banded together and claimed they were unsafe. Griggs is narrow and jet skis were too wild for other boaters to navigate around, or at least that what I’m told.

Tubing was banned after some one cracked the whip, slapped their child in to a shear limestone rock wall, killing the child.

Boat speed limits were introduced after two recreational drag boats owned by father and son collided head-on in what looked like a game of chicken. There were two fatalities in the head on collision.

The boat length limit was introduced after someone in the 1950s launched a +30 foot boat. The 22 foot length limit was selected to accommodate a popular inboard Chris-Craft model. The boat length limit had nothing to do with wake size.

I fractured my ankle early last season. That really put me off Griggs for quite a bit. Then When I was back on my feet I was all over the area. Last year my presence on Griggs was way down. I think the rowers are making exaggerated claims for their gain. I really can’t say more about that here and now.

bigshow 03-08-2008 9:07 AM

Nate, email is still down. I'm sure you know the weather is bad. That might impact delivery date - we'll see.

Can't wait to pick her up.

Dale, Love that tower. I have to say that those are my favorites. Wish they sold them aftermarket.
