Coming up from the Bay Area on Sunday to ride at Berryessa. This is the first time I've ventured up there with my own boat and looking for recommendations on places to launch. I'll be meeting some family up there coming in from Sac as well. Mostly be boarding and maybe taking my little brother in law tubing (sorry I'll try to wait until it gets choppy anyway in the afternoon before getting the tube out).

Probably rather go out of somewhere not all the way to the north of the lake since I'll be coming from the south. Where's the best places to ride on the lake right now? I assume the water level is not an issue?

Thanks in advance.

We launched a few weeks ago at Lake Berryessa Resort. I think it was $12 for access, however, that provides a slip for the night, nice ramp, and trailer storage. You will need to disconnect the trailer and park in a separate lot.
As for the water, I could not believe how little the level fluctuates. Maybe someone could provide info as to why the lake is nearly full?
posted before telling you where to ride. if wind is out of the west go out of cappell and make a left go down past the pipe an ride oak shores. if south or east wind go across the lake to the narrows by the dam. have a nice ride

Thanks for the info. I might try Cappell Cove - can't beat free, plus unhooking the trailer is a bit of a pain. Is it easy to find (I need to give directions to my family coming in from Davis); is it sign posted right off Knoxville road? Turtle rock is pretty close to the junction of 128 and Knoxville?

I'm not sure why Berryessa doesn't drop that much, I think it does drop though as I remember the guy at the marina telling me when I was visiting last October that two of his rental boats had hit a submerged rock in the north east corner that had been submerged a week earlier.

first off from davis you go 128 to moskowite corners make a right on bery-knox rd. go to turtle rock and make a right. as for submerged rocks there are a few to note. left sid of capel ramp looking down, the others tend to be on gradual sloping points. narrows doesn't have any, oak shores has a shallow point on the north end, but it ok between it and shore. hope this helps have a great day riding
