Transom LEDs

Looking at putting some transom LEDs on the boat and I don't want to spend a fortune but I also want to make sure they are visible is the southeast Texas swamp water.

Currently looking at doing 2 lumitec Sea Blase minis but at 870 lumens each I am not sure if it will be enough. Does anyone have any experience with these? I am thinking if two are not bright enough I can get two more of one Sea Blase 3 that puts out 1729 lumens inbetween the two minis.

Check out Liquid Lumens.

I would not go with anything less then the Seablaze-X out of the Lumitec line. These are in the price range of the Liquid Lumens Skinnydips, but I feel the Skinnydips are brighter.

I highly recommend the Liquid Lumens, but I would suggest the Surfrider at least.

What is the difference in the surf rider and skinny dip besides price? Their website leaves a lot to be desired.

Brightness. Their price scale, as with most all the others, is also a brightness scale. If the water is as murky as it sounds, price-point LEDs are just not going to cut through. Will you see them on? Sure, but may not be intensity and coverage that you hope for.

Meh...I’ve had high end lights and plug lights. It’s not like the night sucks with the cheap ones and was sooo much better with the good ones. Sure, brighter is better but in the end they are just mood lights. Some things in life need to be expensive. Transom light are not in that category IMO

liquid lumens are by far the best option out there.

On my old boat I added lifefrorm 9s and was overly impressed by the inexpensive cost for the two.

I had a pair of seablaze 3 on my previous boat i upgraded them with seablaze X and it was awesome.
A pair of seablaze 3 is a bit not enough for Night surfing.
Now my Nautique came with Roswell NightWave and they are Correct. Light more than seablaze 3 but à bit less than seablaze X. But definitely get the job done.

Lifeform makes quality light, but the LF9 is not a bight at the LL Skinnydip, yet they are in the same price range for a pair.

Bang for buck right now goes to shadowcaster. Take a look at the SCR16 it's a lot of lite for the $$$ and are super bright

rdlangston13 01-19-2019 4:33 PM

Thanks, I think I’m going to probably end up going with the sea blaze X in blue. Liquid lumens look a bit to pricey for not being able to see them in person to justify it.

I have had the seablaze x and they are nice but for about the same money you can get the shadowcaster scr16. More output for the $$$$

Here is a pic of the shadowcaster lights we just had installed on our new fi25. When shopping lights ignore the lumen claims and look at the lights amp draw. The higher the amp draw the brighter the light.
