nwsjake10 10-09-2007 10:35 AM

just got bichted at from my boss for snooping on wakeworld, anyone else guilty of this?

nj_alex 10-09-2007 10:39 AM

Totally...

byrd 10-09-2007 10:40 AM

Nope, I am the Boss...

wakedad33 10-09-2007 10:47 AM

J-Rod for sure

nwsjake10 10-09-2007 10:51 AM

well isnt that nice byrd...hah

board2death 10-09-2007 10:55 AM

obviously you care about your job nwsjake10

nwsjake10 10-09-2007 11:02 AM

haha, not really man..inbound call center

jarrod 10-09-2007 11:15 AM

Oh yeah!

My Sales org frowns heavily on this. That's why most of my posts lately are short and right to the point.

I've been spotted a couple of times, but no "talks" yet. As long as I produce, no one cares.

The thing is...if IT looked into my activity, they would see that WW is the only site I visit all day. I'm not out there surfing all over the place.

nwsjake10 10-09-2007 11:18 AM

couldn't agree more j-rod..as long as i produce and do a good job when the task is there..isnt that all that matters?

mendo247 10-09-2007 11:18 AM

Pretty much on an hourly basis.

Owner could care less as long as i get my stuff done and keep the boys in the shop in check!

ironj32 10-09-2007 11:31 AM

my boss never catches me...but my coworkers do. i'm waiting for one of them to be a snitch.

helix_rider 10-09-2007 11:42 AM

Wakeworld is perfect because it never pops up these irritating noises or songs like other sites. Nothing says "I'm goofin' off" faster than a little ditty blaring out of the speakers.

downfortheride 10-09-2007 12:00 PM

Well going to lunch, I'm out!

scott_a 10-09-2007 12:10 PM

Browsing WakeWorld is part of my job description. It isn't worded exactly like that, but it's close enough!

jarrod 10-09-2007 12:25 PM

"Market Research" ay Scott?

tonis 10-09-2007 12:56 PM

Ya right Scott! This is what you do all day, stop frontn'!

bendow 10-09-2007 1:13 PM

I like wakeworld because the board format is so outdated it looks like you're looking at a database file or something...no one really suspects that it's a message board.

oaboards 10-09-2007 1:26 PM

My boss is on wakeworld almost the whole day!

scott_a 10-09-2007 1:32 PM

"keep up with the current trends in wakeboarding" I believe is the exact wording...

But Tonis, if you blow my cover I'm gonna KICK YO ASS!!!

cavlxenvy 10-09-2007 3:57 PM

Alt-Tab people...

Also use this website..
http://www.ishouldbeworking.com/

and utilize the panic button.

jarrod 10-09-2007 4:33 PM

Alt-tab doesn't work here. They are fast and quiet! No warning at all

jarrod 10-09-2007 4:35 PM

If Dave could make the board look just like Salesforce.com, I would be dialed!

Maybe we could have different "skins" that look like common business apps...like MS Outlook, Salesforce, CRM on demand...

romes 10-09-2007 5:43 PM

i'd be down for the ms outlook skin...i swear thats all i'm doin all day long...

bendow 10-09-2007 8:29 PM

yup, outlook would be perfect for me too.

moshunproductions 10-09-2007 8:34 PM

I am guilty too, although I think i am just now becoming addicted.

mcwakerider 10-09-2007 8:39 PM

wish i could be guilty, i frame for my pops' construction company when not in college...

Now i have been caught in computer lab when i should have been doing a project... lol. but it works so good. the college internet is way faster than mine. takes a quarter of the time to load all the pics on some threads than when i am at home

fuller313 10-09-2007 9:14 PM

I get caught by my boss all the time. My Wife I have also had the talk many times.

sinkoumn 10-09-2007 9:43 PM

in yo face

nuckledragger 10-10-2007 6:24 AM

I call it "market research" also. But I am the boss so it makes it easy.

The big boss, my wife, isn't too happy with it on the weekends.

mcfatty 10-10-2007 7:28 AM

I have lots of windows open so when I hear someone coming I can hit any box be on a business site quick. But I have been busted and had a "talk to" before. I feel it breaks up the monotony and actually helps me work better after a few minutes looking around.

jon4pres 10-10-2007 7:49 AM

My boss is too busy on his college football forum to notice me on here. Guess it works for both of us.

chaser 10-10-2007 9:47 AM

Here is an email from a dept manager I received near the end of this past May: "The Internet log report for May indicates that you have been on the Internet 63 hours so far in May with over 25,000 hits. Before I assume that this is a mistake and ask IS to double check the report I'd
appreciate your comments. Are you doing something for work that involves accessing the Internet? Help me to understand what's
happening....." 95% of that is probably this site!

mendo247 10-10-2007 9:53 AM

^bahahahahaha^ thats tight!

nasty530 10-10-2007 10:16 AM

Good luck with that one Bob!! Sounds like the ish is gonna hit the fan on that one!!

extremeisaac 10-10-2007 10:40 AM

Bob, what do you do?

etakk7 10-10-2007 10:54 AM

Bob, I think that's all of our biggest fear.

I was going to say you left the internet windows open and weren't surfing, but they got you on the number of hits!

chaser 10-11-2007 12:44 PM

Erik, I tried that excuse, but it didn't work. Isaac, I work at a large multi-specialty clinic.
Not sure where they come up with 63 hours? Seems impossible. I think they assume each click is worth a certain amount of time or something? I'm a fast clicker. I told her I do a lot of surfing over lunch and between patients and she just said watch your internet use.

(Message edited by chaser on October 11, 2007)
