Well it seems that gas prices are going up, up and up, by this summer who knows where they will be at, I am just as pissed as the next guy, I know this will put somewhat of a damper on my summer, I don’t think I will be riding as much as the last years. <BR>So how will this affect you as a boat owner this summer, will you go postal at the gas station? Or will you suck it up and make the extra people pay 40.00 for a day of riding?

how does climate affect the price of gas? anyone have any ideas? how is this inflation of prices justifiable? any insight would be lovely.

I think the inflation of prices is fully justified. Its just supply and demand. <BR> <BR>Currently over $10 a gallon here in the UK and it won't limit my riding that much I'll just try and be a bit lighter on the throttle where ever possible

for me as long as it stays under $5 a gallon it shouldn't hurt my riding time

Scott <BR> <BR>Climate has a lot to do with the price of gas. Every summer the price of gas goes up. Why? Either the supply of gas grows which makes sense b/c more people are traveling and doing activities that require fuel and/ or the fuel companies no that this will happen and know that they can raise the price of fuel and still have a demand. Either way the price of fuel does increase during the summer months.

We are at a 15 year high in gas supplies according to the news. Its not supply and demand its the oil companies, they know we have to have it and want to make record profits from it. Gas could be 2.00 a gallon and they still would make outstanding profits. Its all GREED!!!

Here in France the Gas prices are following suit and are always heading up!! and Diesel is even higher!!! Just suck it up!! Its not going to affect my time on the water!! just need a little more saving during the winter and everybody (who didnt pay 60,000 euros for the boat) might have to throw a little extra in!!!

China is gobbling up as much oil as they can get ahold of, they're going through an industrial revolution right now. As shane says it's not necessarily the demand of the U.S. it's other countries.

it's time to drill in anwar, &amp; offshore. it's ridiculous that here we are in 2008 and we still haven't done it. my neighbor's sister-in-law works for a major oil company in houston. they have an employee gas pump &amp; it's free for everyone! it makes me want to move to texas.......

It is not so much about the supply vs demand but more about the dollar. Tax cuts for the rich, corporate welfare have all ballooned the US deficit. The loss in value of the dollar is making investors seek shelter in commodities like oil, gold etc... because investment in the dollar, US treasuries, are undesirable by foreign and domestic investors in a deficit economy. Unless we return to balancing our budget and re establish full faith in credit in the US Govt/dollar, investors, futures speculators, etc will continue to drive up commodities like oil and gas. As for Anwar, The majority of Oil currently being produced in Alaska, ends up on tankers to Asia.

Dear friends, over here the gas price is over 8$ a gallon... us gas price are still like in paradise. Why should the wakebuddys ride for free? We are used to share the full costs of the boat. Wish you all a nice summer.

We have plenty of oil and gas. Simply, price driven by investors in stock market lining pockets. By the time we run out or come close, we will have alternative methods of fuel. We already do, but big oil has a lid on those.

I hate gas. Why dont we all by energizer bunnies and put them in the boat. If he can power a city heck he can power a boat.

Noone is doing anything to help matters, everyone just bitches about it. Europe's gas prices are not apples to apples. A good portion of your gas price is tax for the myriad of social programs due to a more socialist form of government unlike the US's capitalist system in which the tax is a small part of our per gallon cost. Social programs are not free someone has to pay and you do so at the pump as well as other places. Gas prices are ridiculous in our country because we have not built a refinery in 30 years due to a strong environmental lobby. Demand is high and our refinery's are at almost capacity.

There was a high up at the same camp. One night around the camp fire with a few drinks under his belt, he asked the oil executive what was happening with gas prices. The oil exec said every time we try and use resources or build additional refineries, we get so much opposition from the environmentalists, that we never get to first base. i am going to preface/disclaim what i am about to do with the statement that i NEVER do this and i actually have a burning, passionate hate for chain emails but this one i actually opened and it intrigued me because the escalating prices will certainly take a toll on our lake time this year and i am all for doing something if there is anything i can do for it. after reading all of these posts i recognize this might not be the only or even the biggest problem that we are faced with but i think it is worth a shot. to save myself the typing i am going to paste a portion of this email that was sent to me. feel free to flame me or the instigators of the nonsense as i find the hostility of the people on this board to be quite humorous most of the time. here goes. <BR> <BR>Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. <BR> <BR>If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. <BR>If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. <BR> <BR>But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. Hate to burst your bubble there jerbil but Exxon and Mobil are one company called ExxonMobil, they merged quite a while ago. The second largest oil company is BP. A little research goes a long way before posting something like this. While I agree with the intent of this chain e-mail it will never happen. You could never buy another gallon of gas from those two companies and it wouldn't hurt them. They sell gas to most of those other gas stations you freqeuent, and oil to the other oil companies that do not explore and produce. Where do you think the oil comes from, the big players. There aren't alot of oil compaines in the E&amp;P sector (exploration and production), these guys bring the oil to market. Personally I think we should get a little payback from the Mexican govmt for all the free health care and social BS we provide millions of their undocumented that come here. They sit on fat loads of oil and it sure would be nice to do a little bartering. <BR> I was on the way home from work the other day and super was 3.99 and diesel 2 was 4.16 DAMN gotta suck to have a diesel right now.

For any of you economists. At what point does the US start using our reserves? I would imagine possibly this summer since its the peek traveling season an so much of the econ. relies on tourism etc. Any thoughts?

Amen Kevin.. If we got even a barrel of oil a day for each one of them illegal bastards they send over the border our gas prices would be less. We should just cut off any all aid we give to mexico and see what happens to the immigration problem, they'd police it themselves and we wouldn't have to worry about it. <BR>I'll probably be doing more floating, and making sure I get gas money from people. Funny story about gas stations in Az we recently got valero stations. Well they bought out this rather nice independently owned gas station we used to frequent on the way to the lake. Like the week before it went through its transformation into chain-esque remodel they sold off all the old store's inventory before it shipped in all the valero crap. They had absolutely nothing worth anything in the entire store. It was horrible. No water, no energy drinks, no food worth touching, not a single beer. NOTHING! So from now on all of my crew calls valero the inconvenience store. Not only that but they boosted the price of gas by like 40 cents from one day to the next. From now on I fill the truck and boat by the costco by my house.
