typhoon 06-02-2004 7:38 PM

I may have to mount my tower speaker on the top of my tower bars instead of below due to my bimini. Does anyone have any pics of that install? Don't want it to look like Mickey Mouse...

catdaddy76 06-02-2004 7:39 PM

If you mount on top I don't understand how you will keep the rope out of them.

walt 06-02-2004 7:41 PM

Is it a Monster tower ?

nvsairwarrior 06-02-2004 8:18 PM

TY,
It might be a matter of which speakers you are considering mounting "Up Top" as some definetly would look rediculous.
I have a few customers that have mounted "up top" and have not had issues with the rope. Again, it will probably be dependent on the speaker you are considering.
Good luck,
Duane
www.nvs1.net
typhoon 06-03-2004 6:18 AM

looking at the loud liquid 6x9 cans. they would be mounted on the tower behind the rope spool. I have seen a lot of people mount them there but not sure if i want to go that route.

boarditup 06-03-2004 8:58 AM

I have my LL mounted on top. I am 6'4" and kept knocking them and my head around pretty hard. It looks decent, just flip over the emblems.

nooner 06-04-2004 5:43 AM

Teddy, How would the rope get tangled in them? Well on my FCT. You would have to have the line perpendicular to the boat to even think of hitting speakers if they were up there. And I dont know why anyone would be that far out

Jus playin.

wakeupdude 06-04-2004 9:41 PM

Luis, what do you do when a rider falls? go to the end of the lake and then take a nice wide turn, then go back to get them?

gunz 06-04-2004 10:11 PM

I seen them this way on Rod Hess's ride.I smacked my head on them a couple of times as well. Also had Bimini issues,so I put mine on top.Works great.

gunz 06-04-2004 10:17 PM

OOPS! Wrong pic. That was before.I've moved them since. They are well away from the rope.

nooner 06-05-2004 3:46 AM

Well usually when a rider falls we have a chick or someone else who gets the rope. Since we usually board in very narrow busy waterways. Still cant see how it would get tangled. Seems like to me. It has a better chance of catching the boards on the board racks. I will take a good look next time. See what happens to the rope if I turn really sharp.

tclagggym 06-05-2004 4:57 PM

Why not adjust your bimini?

gunz 06-05-2004 8:45 PM

Tim,it wouldn't work.I tried all kinds of different ways, and this is the best way I came up with.Plus side,I haven't smacked my head on the speakers since I did this.

rvh3 06-06-2004 7:05 AM

Ty,
There is a pic of mine in my profile. Mickey and Minnie.

gunz 06-06-2004 8:10 AM

Rod,yours looks good.

typhoon 06-07-2004 6:39 AM

my bim is permanently on the tower.

bob 06-07-2004 3:00 PM

??someone jumps up everytime anyone falls?? You guys are either really good and dont fall much or have some dedicated rope girls. A day on the boat is supposed to also be relaxing when not boarding, not up--down--up--down--up--no wait he didnt fall

bob 06-07-2004 3:01 PM

how about a fish gaff ?

gunz 06-07-2004 5:03 PM

The way my set up is no one has to move the rope at all.

pittsy 06-07-2004 5:13 PM

the new x-star bimini is in the perfect position, you have to be over 6 feet tall to hit it when you stand under it.

typhoon 06-09-2004 9:31 AM

typhoon 06-09-2004 9:35 AM

mac_attack 06-11-2004 9:56 PM

Hey John Strain
Where did you get that bimini?

amixman 06-12-2004 6:58 AM

jmanjohn 06-12-2004 8:08 AM

TY I am good! How have You been?
Mac, It was custom made by a local shop, paid for by My dealer. I had it made a little bigger which left no room for speakers to be mounted underneath. If You are interested I could find the phone number.
John

typhoon 06-12-2004 8:19 AM

that tower system is scary.

whitevlx 06-18-2004 7:26 PM

Keep in mind your anchor light will need to be taller than anything else on your boat. Adding speakers to the tower almost certainly means your light will be too short.

gunz 06-20-2004 8:47 AM

I never thought of that.

wake_upppp 06-20-2004 9:47 AM

that's not really one of those laws that they enforce strickly.

typhoon 06-24-2004 11:26 PM

the evid's are awesome but big bucks... i am wondering about getting one of the adrenaline boxes and mounting it up on top.
gherk 06-25-2004 10:53 AM

Hey Ty I know you were looking for some 6X9 cans. Check out http://www.80feetout.com. We just added pics of the 6X9 cans.

bigd 06-25-2004 11:10 AM

(At least in Texas) the anchor light doesn't have to be the tallest thing on the boat but does have to be visible from 360 degrees. My speakers were obstructing my light and the cop hassled me about it, but that was on the 4th of July weekend and they were all over everybody.

typhoon 06-25-2004 11:32 PM

how does this look? terrible photo shop but you get the idea...I had to shrink it a ton to make the resolution work for the upload...

(Message edited by typhoon on June 26, 2004)

walt 06-26-2004 7:30 AM

on top.

typhoon 06-26-2004 8:16 AM

you mean with the adrenaline?

nautiqueboarder 06-26-2004 2:42 PM

My buddy had peakers mounted on top, someone else driving the boat, ripped the speaker off on take off and landed on someones ankles. Dont mount it on top, adjust your bimini. That 6 speaker system on top of the tower above looks silly! No offense but I can understand why its soon to be for sale. I would rather not have a bimini than have to worry about someone else dealing with pulling my speaker down when the rope gets rapped around it. Give it time, it will happen. I mounted my second set of speakers down the side of my tower, I still havent modified my bimini to fit in the tower yet though.

www.discountpoolcare.com/nautique/index.htm
typhoon 06-26-2004 3:08 PM

like the trick mirror and the tower looks very nice. i actually posted up another pic of them on the side on another posting.

gunz 06-26-2004 4:09 PM

top

jmanjohn 06-26-2004 8:16 PM

Ty, Stop messing around! Put them on top! The rope does not touch them, and You wont hit Your
head.
L.O.L. John

typhoon 06-26-2004 8:26 PM

I am too tall but i do like the top. I am still torn on doing the side though.

the_madness 06-27-2004 9:50 PM

No head clearance issues and no rope issues.

sbvfive 06-28-2004 7:04 AM

Mine are on top on My x-star.....they have never gotton caught.......

jmanjohn 06-28-2004 3:07 PM

Ty, I added a third and fourth board rack to My tower, they catch the rope sometimes. If You put them on the side is that going to interfere with Your board rack? Most of the time I only use 3 racks, The surfer takes up one rack by itself. You wont be able to add any more if You want to later.

typhoon 07-26-2004 6:32 PM

rich, how do the evid's mount up there?

talltigeguy 07-26-2004 10:53 PM

I just thought hitting my head on things was a way of life - thanks for the great idea to move those speakers!

typhoon 07-29-2004 8:43 AM

how do those evids mount? how do the mounts go on the speakers? are the evids really that much louder than the normal tower speakers?
