Board for a problem knee

I've got a 2005 hyperlite 3ds that has been treating me fine, but ive got a partially torn acl (wearing a custom knee brace) and my knee keeps getting really sore after each session. Double ups and landings in the flat are so painful that i am having to slow own a lot. Im thinking about getting another board if the landings will be noticeably better. Riding behind a new 23 malibu wakesetter and like to use full ballast and wedge. Any suggestions for a continuos rocker board? 6'1 160 and int/advanced.
Gracias

CWB Faction, the thing has a full length center spine and rides really well.

Slingshot Response. Tons of pop and a butter soft landing! Continuous rocker too. Best board I've ever ridden!

You remind me of that guy that goes into the doc's office and says "doc, it only hurts when I touch my finger in this very specific way"...why are you charging d-ups and taking tricks to the flats on an injury? Slowing down for a bit while it heals isn't going to kill you, but NOT slowing down is almost guaranteed to make you pay.

That being said...I really like how soft the Monarch lands as well :P

The Liquid Force Groove is a soft landing continuous board. Post ACL reconstruction approved!

LF hybrid Watson 142, your knees will thank you

My recoil that I have for sale in the classifieds. Seriously I would say that even if it were not for sale its a bit stiffer than response and reflex so will feel a bit more like your old board. Definitely butter landings. Love that board.

Marek, b-side, murray, lyman, transcend

Haha 8 posts in and not one repeat answer. Clearly the answer is to go try a bunch of different boards and feel what works best for you.

Its not really the board, its your riding style. Try riding with a more mellow wake-to-wake style (ie: Watson). This is what saves the knees! All boards will land much harder in the flats!

agreed

so ive pretty much decided on a slingshot response 142.
My question is do you think the d2 or pb floyds are better? Ive got some 06 murrays now that i like well enough

tampawake 07-12-2010 1:58 PM

You will be happy with slingshot. Was not a fan of their bindings I have watson ltds. Most people that own ss bindings do love them.

gnard 07-12-2010 2:28 PM

you think the 142 is the right size. I 6' 160 and am int/adv wih flips and spins

wakerider111 07-12-2010 2:54 PM

the floids and d2 are both great. the floids are supposed to be a softer boot for better pokes and tweeking and also use one lace vs two laces. i personally like the driver boots better, but it is all preference.

boards with more flex definitely do land nice and soft. you will love it

its personal preference, at your weight you could comfortable ride anything from 138-142. I personally prefer bigger boards and given that you want soft landings there is no question, the bigger board will land softer. I would recommend going for 140+.

wake_eater 07-12-2010 7:57 PM

slingshot!!!!!!!

bobenglish 07-13-2010 6:57 PM

Sine. Flex board with a huge center spine and weighs nothing. Demo one and you will be amazed how soft it lands in any position.
