I am looking at V-Drive boats in the 20' range and I like the outback for It's size, fuel capacity and being able to get a moderate priced boat without the expensive Bling!
How does the wake compare to other 20'boats? like the Mastercraft X-1 or the Tige 20V??? All dealers are 1 1/2 hrs. plus away from us! and It seems to be difficult to get demo's.
I will not buy anything without a full demo!
We have a 2000 SeaRay 19'b.r with 5.0L, tower, perfect pass and we run about 800 to 1000lbs ballast. It Is an Ok wake but we sure struggle with Power, bow rise and space when we have crew!
Any Input will be greatly appreciated!
Scott

I can't say how it compares to the Tige 20V, but it's a decent wake and a nice boat...especially considering the price tag.

A better comparison for the X-1 would be the Supra 20SSV. They have a similar wake with just factory ballast, but the X-1 will have a larger ramp and more mass when you start adding an additional 1k lbs on top of factory.

Keep in mind the Outback V for '06/'07 is the same boat as the Mobius LSV for '05, without the wakeboard pkg. I'd recommend at a minimum, the EFI engine, wakeplate and 3 bag ballast system.

Here's the wake of an '05 Mob LSV with factory ballast and two people in the boat, in about 7-8' of water at about 22.5 mph and 70' rope.

In the 06 or 07 moomba boats would It be a big difference In wake between the 20'8" Outback V and the 21'6" Outback V / Mobius LSV???
Seems to be a big jump In price for not quite another foot In length and another 300lbs hull weight.

I have a 06 outback v and with out any bags filled this is what the wake is, but when I fill all three bags, 1200 lb the wake gets very intense, much bigger than this photo, love the boat for the price.

Both wakes look very solid compared to what I have been able to build with the I.O!
Ken what was the ballpark price of your boat??
What extra's did you get??
Scott

05 mob lsv is pure sex.. its what i have and weighted properly produces an INCREDIBLE wake

Scott-The wake difference on the new LSV compared to the outback V hull, IMO, is considerable. The justification for the price increase really comes with the increased depth, storage and ride of the new LSV compared to the old. This also gives you more room to add bigger bags in place of the stock ones in the future if you wish.
Can't really go wrong with either.

the tower on the 06 is also much bigger and has no movement to speak of compared to the earlier models

Malibu is coming out with a VTX its a 20' Im hearing around 40grand for it but dont hold me to it...I went to lunch with my friend who works at malibu and saw the boat its pretty nice

I like the Malibus and the Tige and I could get Into one of them for $40,000. BUT that's the problem! I really do not want to spend that much moola! I have It In my head that I should be able to get Into a good new or used boat with what I need for around $30G.
I think all of the billet stuff and fancy graphic's and big stereo's are cool but! I just do not need It and They won't help me to progress any faster!
But If all of the extra's got me steady crew that was as fired up as me to ride then maybe I would pony up!

I've heard from credible sources that the new vtx will be well over 40k once options are added.

The VTX is gonna be well over 40k.
