Wake the World now in Texas!
Wake the World is a group of boat owners that provide watersports opputunities to residents of local Children's Homes. This started in NC a few summers ago. We are very excited about our friend (Ryan Caroll) in Texas picking up the program.
This program is extremely rewarding for all that are involved. If you are interested in starting something up in your state, please let me know. :) http://www.waketheworldnc.com http://www.waketheworldtx.com |
That is Awesome!
I have been wanting to get involved with something like this for a long time. I just didn't know how to go about doing it. I'm in the Dallas area and would love to provide my boat to help out.! |
That's a really cool idea. I would be interested in helping out also. I am located in the dallas area.
|
I know that Ryan would be excited to hear from both of you.
The impact that you can make in these kids lives is incredible. The impact they make on you is life changing. Most of the kids have never been on a boat much less being towed in the water. |
This is sort of similar to the NPO I am starting. I sent you a PM.
|
Where and when will this take place in Texas?
|
You guys in Texas definetly need to go help out with this event, Wake The World was one of the highlights of my summer last year.
|
Happy to see this event spreading to different places. Like Benj said its a highlight of the summer.
|
The event in Texas will be near San Antonio, July 19, 2010 at Randolph Recreation Park at Canyon Lake. Ryan and his friends will be hosting the children of St. Jude's Ranch.
In North Carolina, it will be near Lexington, June 21 & 22, 2010 at High Rock Boat Dock Marina on High Rock Lake. We will be hosting The Mill's Home, The American Children's Home, The Children's Home of Winston Salem and Oak Ranch. It has been great to see all the positive emails and PM's. There has been interest in several states. I think that we are the verge of something that is about to get big really fast. And like Shaun and Benj said, "Highlight of the summer!":D |
I can't wait until this years wake the world. It will be my first, I'm so pumped.
|
Hey Blair! We are so looking forward to you & Brooke being there.
We really missed you for Wake & Flake. We had 60 riders this year. We had 13 at Lake Norman (41dgrees) and 47 at Belews (61 dgrees). Fox 8 is supposed to air Wake N Flake this Monday night. |
We have been getting alot of emails lately. Looks like California, Tennessee and South Carolina are all states that may have Wake the World in the near future.:D
|
If there is something like this in socal or if there will be in the future I would volunteer my time, boat etc.
|
I will be hauling my boat and fam down for this. Anyone else from the DFW area that wants to get a convoy going PM me. My stoke meter is through the roof for this. hahaha
|
We have also had some interest in Alabama, Illinois and Arizona! You guys are awesome!
Brett - My stoke meter is through the roof! To see a vision take off like this is awesome! |
Search around your local area. Most larger cities have programs similar.
We have a really good charity on the lake I live in that my wife and I help out a few times a year at their events. If your in the Houston area, Roger ( guy who runs the charity) is an awesome and always lookin for volunteers. http://www.taasports.org/ |
I wish I was closer I would definitely help out. This is an awesome Idea.
|
Does anyone from the area have any good tips on places to stay ? Hotels and such. Or can we just camp there at the Park?
|
Our local Fox station is airing a piece on Wake N Flake / Wake the World Monday night at 5:45. I will post a link after it airs.

Thanks, Ryan.

Due to several tornadoes in the area last night, Fox 8 will not be running our story tonight. Maybe next Monday.
