If I winterize my boat by pouring anti freeze down to my raw water pump do i need to remove my thermostat in order to get the antifreeze to enter the block?

I normally run the boat up to temp and then drain the block and exhaust manifold. I then immediately pull antifreeze in.

If you warm the engine up first, the thermostat should be open when you pull in the antifreeze.

^ that's what I do too, Eric IMO it's so much easier and less messy to use a 5 gal bucket filled with about 3-4 gal of antifreeze. Then you can just stick the raw water intake hose down into it and suck the antifreeze right into the engine and fill the block (then to be safe, just open up one of the block drains to see if it is in face filled with antifreeze).
