Nautique announces all electric 230
|
That's awesome. I wonder what that sucker weighs, and if it still has the gigantic lockers in the back....need room for the big dog 1100's on each side :D
|
I imagine Nautique will keep the same bow/stern weight ratio and if that's the case all those batteries will be on the floor and not the back hatches. Just dont burst a ballast bag!

This brings back memories when epic debuted there 23 E hybrid wake boat. It was one of the 1st wake boats that was gonna cost around 150 K (REMEMBER WHEN THAT NUMBER SOUNDED TOTALLY OUT OF WHACK FOR A WAKE BOAT?!) Now Nautique is announcing a fully electric boat. Comparing the COST of an epic 23V to Nautiques 230 is well into the five figure range with the 230 having a starting price very close to 100k. So..... The million dollar question: How much will this 230 cost???

"Combined, these two electric engines offer a powerful 160 kW of peak output. ... [The] state of the art lithium ion batteries [provide] an available storage capacity of up to 78 kW-hours."
So 78 kw-hr-storage divided by 160 kw-consumption is not even a 1/2 hour? |
Peak power is likely only the demand when getting out of the hole. If the average demand is 1/4 of that, then you get 2 hours. It's a novelty boat.
|
I really hope a new wake-specific boat is being developed, because if the only thing r&d has been working on for the past few years is one-off electric boats, that's a waste of talent.
