I just got a quote to trade my 2000 xstar in on a new 2006 xstar loaded! They said they would give me $23000 (I was hoping for $25-$26k)for my boat, and I could have the 2006 for $64000. I think its a good deal, but do you think I might be able to get more for my 2000? It has 560hrs on it and is in mint condition!

Yes, you should be able to get more much like what you are thinking it's worth (as long as it's in good shape). They are just going to turn around and sell it for that anyways.

that's why they are giving you that allowance for trade in. another way to look at it is if you pay tax in your state, you don't pay on the difference(at least that's the way they got it north of the border. for the 2-3000 dollars, you willing to sit on it for a couple months plus, and possibly have the price of the xstar go up? i would go for it at that offer on your boat. if it was 6 to 10 g's diff, then fo sho sell privately.

If your tax rate is 7% then you would be getting a "tax credit" of $1600. So now your only making $400-$1400 to sell it on your own. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

They are showing you average retail for your boat. At 23000 for yours I would hope they are discounting their boat some. As a rule it seems there is a good 30% mark up in boats. For instance I looked at an x-1 6 weeks ago and the price was 44900 two days ago the price was 39000. I don't know what list is on the x-star you are looking at but I would think there is a couple bucks left.
