selling shotgun??
I've got a Browning shotgun that's seen maybe 80 rounds. I'm wanting to sell the thing but don't know the legalities of it or where to do it. I live in Florida and hear there are no rules per-say but I just don't know the best way to accomplish my goal.

What kind of gun is it? I'm looking for a 20 gauge :)

You should check out shotgunworld.com. Lots of guys sell there shotguns on there without any trouble so I doubt there are really any rules to selling a shotgun. I hope this helps.

Just for my peace of mind I type up a bill of sale that has the gun model and serial number and printed name of purchaser and have the buyer sign the paper. That way you are covered if the gun ends up as evidence in a crime scene. I would also only sell to a legal adult. Other than that sell away.

It's pretty easy in FL, just do a bill of sale and make sure the buyer is over 18. If you're really concerned about it you can do the transfer through a FFL, they'll probably charge you $20 or so to do the paper work. I wish you were closer to me I've been looking for another shotgun.

From what I can gather (the gun was a gift), it is a Browning Citori 525 sporting gun built in 2005. I have the original receipt still and it was purchased for $2,655.00 on 03/11/2008 and comes with a browning case. I'm looking to get about $1,600 for it. Let me know if anyone on here is interested. And yes, I will be requiring the purchaser to be of legal age and sign a bill of sale just as all you wise soles have instructed.
Thanks guys! |
It's a 12 gauge by the way. Over under.

Man I wish I was in the market for a new shotgun. I've shot a friends Citori many times and they are a real treat to shoot. Great action, solid feel and they just rock. Good luck with the sale.

the best thing to do would be to just take it to a shop and sell it

Put it on gunbroker.com.
It should fetch 1600.00 without much problem. If you take it to a dealer expect to get an offer of 800.00-1000.00 as it is worth about 1600.00 and they're going to want to make a profit. |
Thanks guys! I'll look into gunbroker.com
