I want some opinions from malibu and tige owners. What boat do you think would produce a bigger wake a 2005 malibu wakesetter XTI or a tige 22v riders ed. When i say wake i mean for wakesurfing and wakeboarding. any opinions would be greatly appriciated.

Also the the tige 22v riders ed. is a 2004. Also i hear the tige has a very wide wake, is that true? if so how much harder is w2w compared to other boats?

come on anybody???

wakedad33 03-11-2006 10:37 AM

Does the XTI have a wedge?

surfer_ryan223 03-11-2006 10:41 AM

ya it is loaded it has everything you can put on a xti. but in sayig that the tige has a $3,000 sound system. But the tige has no ballast and the xti has the 500# in the middle
surfer_ryan223 03-11-2006 10:41 AM

so yes the wedge is there

wakedad33 03-11-2006 11:11 AM

The Tige does have a wider wake so you might have to charge it harder or shorten the rope 5'. The XTI with the wedge down and stock ballest full will perform better and have a bigger wake if you run another 400 lbs or so in the bow. Both nice boats can you ride behind them before you buy? that would be best.

If you drive them both and are still considering the tige I would be surprised.

any idea on how much a trailer would cost for an xti.

I currently own a Tige 22V Riders Edition and can say that I'm very pleased with the performance, ride, and quality of the boat. The Malibu is going to have better fit and finish. The Tige will probably ride smoother in rough water conditions. I believe the Tige is probably a much heavier boat (check the specs, but it may be over 500 lbs heavier which evens things out from a ballast point of view). The wedge will add some value to the Malibu as TAPS will add to the Tige....just depends on what you're looking for. From all of the discussions I've read on this site, the TAPS will be better for shaping the wake while the wedge will act more like ballast.

The Tige wake without ballast is pretty good. I usually run about 500 lbs in the bow to firm things up and find that to be plenty. It gets really nice and big when you have 500 in front and 600 to 800 in the lockers. The surf wake on the Tige is second to none or pretty close to that.

The Tige will give you more storage and space than the XTI IMO. Like everyone says, drive both, figure out what's really important, and make sure you buy from the best dealer.

These posts are stupid- all the boats are good just go try them. I have a Tige and I'd buy it again- i'd also take a Bu, Nautique, Mastercraft, Supra, Supreme, Cal-air, MB, Epic, Moomba, Sanger- who did I forget????
