October Butter

Thought I would post some pic's of the Lovely water now that the Tubers and jet Ski's have gone back to school. Its the best time of the year. The water is still warm and high, and you pretty much have the lake to yourself.

cowwboy 10-01-2012 11:35 AM

I'm jealous of the houses!!

boardman74 10-01-2012 11:57 AM

65??? Summer time temps!! We are already into the 40's!!

dhill 10-01-2012 12:00 PM

agree!!! those that decided to wear tops were made fun of pretty bad....and yes someone had brought a dry suit :banghead:

Fiveflat 10-01-2012 12:11 PM

Wow, we were still in 77 degree water yesterday.

bschall 10-01-2012 12:12 PM

Grant thats tulloch right? You usually only see butter like that in the 5 mph zone under the bridge

grant_west 10-01-2012 12:29 PM

Or in other words.....the areas that you can't ride.

boardman74 10-01-2012 1:25 PM

Beautiful Grant!!!

grant_west 10-01-2012 1:47 PM

Yeah not trying to Mislead anyone into thinking the whole lake is Butter all the time. But this time of the year you can find this water all over the lake. To bad we couldn't have had this type of conditions during spring ride would have been awesome.

boardman74 10-01-2012 4:22 PM

There's no doubt. For us way up north there is zero traffic and we seems to get a lot of flat calm days.

tonyv420 10-01-2012 4:42 PM

Lovin this time of year!! our water was 63 last Thurs. We don't quit until Nov 1st. Drysuit doesn't come out until water gets below 55

aces6692 10-01-2012 4:54 PM

miljack 10-01-2012 7:15 PM

Rehab moto, Awesome pic! We're spoiled here in Charlotte, NC, water temps still in the 70's! Toobers gone, just dealing with the bass boats, but they usually avoid us while we're riding...

almost unbearable. truthfully they've kept us away much of the year. turns are damn near impossible, you either have to reverse hard or go under to rip them off darn near every time. think i am screwing up my transmission

992envy 10-01-2012 10:24 PM

Rehab that bullards shot is bad ass! Grant Tulloch looks amazing. Love these Indian summers, it was 101 in Sonoma county today.

davenk 10-02-2012 10:26 AM

yes, fall is the best time of year to ride! Where are some of these places if you are willing to give up your secret spot?

blindmnkee3 10-02-2012 11:35 AM

1st one is the Pend Orielle River about 2 hours north of Spokane, WA. 2nd one is Long Lake about 5 miles from my house in NW Spokane. Love the NW but hate the short seasons.

Long Lake is where I first learned to ski when I was 5. I remember tubing on that lake when a fire broke out nearby and a large super scooper was making drops on the lake hundred yards from us while tubing was pretty cool.

September and so far October has been money. Only boat out on the lake most times.

rode there only once this summer with someone in August...they were pretty bad! Plus all the other floating **** you have to watch out for....sketchy for sure...but it is always smooth

ApplebyMommy 10-02-2012 4:30 PM

Any water temp below 80, I'm breaking out the shorty suit, anything below 78 I'm full 4.3--- COLD natured. I think my husband is embarrassed for sure. I also have a minimum air temp of 78 for boating.

boardman74 10-02-2012 4:42 PM

Boy glad you live south. If you lived up here in MN you might as well sell off the boat and hang it up!!!!!

10-02-2012 7:08 PM

blindmnkee3 10-03-2012 12:07 AM

I don't think the water here has ever hit 80, lol! My cutoff for wearing a wetsuit top is about 65ish, anything below 55 or so is a 4/3 fullsuit.

Best October Ever

illini88 10-15-2012 6:42 PM

I'll have to dig up some fall pics. I got the reminder this weekend of how fast conditions change in the fall. Saturday night was perfect. Entire lake was glass. Only other boat was a pontoon out for a slow cruise. Sunday, white caps. Every time the boat turned I got smashed by a wall of water. I'm not sure i've ever had worse conditions. Still felt good to be out though. It's a long time till april.

I was criticized earlier in this thread for posting Buttery shots of water that was in the “forbidden” 5-mph Zone. I apologize for my indiscression of submitting photos of water that you can’t or should not ride on! These shots are all of open water. Please forgive me!

We keep the boat at river view marina and just go up river from there. So we start off right at the 80 bridge. Its a 2005 white B-52 with Blue Flames. The rivers getting chilly i busted out the full suit yesterday
