Any Lady riders out there post where you go to school and whether or not you have a team, also any wakeskating girls? it would be awesome to get a women's collegiate wakeskate comp going as well.

~Bess Marine
wakegurl17@aol.co m
207-712-2176
Lynn University (no current club/team)

no kidding bess. i'm from the university of washington (so it's a bit cooler up here) but i'm always trying to round up the troops to go hit the water. especially days like yesterday when the temp was 82 frickin' degrees. we don't have a team up here, but i would love to start one--even if it was just summer riding.

University of Florida has a good amount of girls that ride. We always like to throw down and ride as much as possible. especially during the summer and fall months.

I'm from the University of Iowa Waterski team...i agree with Anne, we have a lot of fun-your team is at a lot of the fall tournaments we are at i believe. We get to wakeboard in the trick event, but it's not the same as having a separate competition. I got a new wakeskate over the summer, we'll see if I can get any better this year!

I chose the wrong part of the country to go to school in--lament! UConn's got a team for every other sport! We even have a lake near by. I would love to get a uni crew together and buzz the crew boats . In the summer I ride with the locals I have met, but wish there were more college/college age ppls around. You guys and gals in WI every go to any events out in New England? Know of any good grassroots boarding/drinking events? (There is Wicedfest in CT-but they canceled it last year.)

xtremebordgurl 04-26-2004 3:18 PM

-K, there's the INT League in New England, I;m from Maine so I feel your pain. Do you know if Wicedfest is happening this year? We're trying to get a Northeast wakefest go'n on but I don't really have the energy or the time to put anything together. For those of you that are on waterski/wakeboard teams how old are the teams and how did they get started? Does the school support it? How many events do you gals do? Do you travel a lot?

There are women collegiate competitions, when your team competes collegiately there is always a women's division. At the collegiate challenge in Panama City, and at Nationals in Long Beach there was and will be a women's division. Even if you just come down without a team, you can still compete for your school.

Howdy all! I am a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Waterski Team down here in College Station, Texas. We have a good number of riders on our team, even dominating over the slalomers and jumpers. Our team hosts a spring tournament called the Polarbear, and we also travel to other in-state and out-of-state tournaments. For wakeboarding, we have to compete in the trickski area, but it's better than nothing. Glad to see so many women out there ridin'! Keep it up girlz!

Hey Bess, What is the INT League in New England/where can I get some info on it? I have been looking around for some WICedfest info and set a few e-mails, so far no one seems to know.
And do you know any good board shops in New England that let you demo?
-Cheers, K

xtremebordgurl 05-23-2004 9:21 PM

There is a shop about 45min from me in Naples Maine that lets you demo equip. I know there are some shops in Mass but I don't know anything about them. I forget the prices to demo but the money goes towards whatever board u choose. The INT league is a nationwide amature tour that is broken up in divisions by sport and ability. They also do kneeboarding, waterskiing and the air chair stuff. Its really a fun atmosphere. Anyone can compete, they have a division for everyone. If you want to check it out the first stop is in Limerick Maine I wont be riding cause of my knee surgery but I'll be going to root on my little brother. If you need a place to crash you're more than welcome to stay here we have a guestroom thats open to fellow riders that need it. Shoot me an e-mail if you want more info on the INT League or on Sun Sports + (the shop in Naples) or just a place to crash and ride.

I did choose the wrong state to go to college in...North Dakota (UND) is WAY to cold, and there are only 3 months to ride. But we've got a handful of lady riders up here. It'd be great to get a team together. Les is right...even if it is only for the summer months!
