Sky Supreme v230 in Lake Tahoe
So I'm leaving for Tahoe tommorrow and i need to know if when i get up there i need to do anything to make it run like it does when i use it at Lake Berryessa. The boat has the Black Scorpion engine.

a much much much lower pitched prop. Taking a boat from sea level to 6,000' is going to reduce horsepower by 30%. You need to make up for that by getting a prop with a lower pitch.
|
Is there a bilge check at Tahoe?
|
Is there? They will clean your boat like no other...
|
Ya invasive species inspection. Don't be a GAYPER merit!
|
I take mine from 4500ft down to sea level all the time. Not enough performance loss for me to drop coin on a different prop.

Bring your wallet! The inspection costs more than what is fair. Also the Launch fees at Lake Tahoe are usually around $20.
When you get to Tahoe you will have to go to a certified station that will inspect, drain, and wash your boat. No ramp in Tahoe will let you launch without doing this. I talked to the boat dealer when I bought my boat. They said if i plan on going to Tahoe with it, I should get a different prop. |
Your gonna be driving around doing a wheelie the whole day!"everybody get in the bow!!"
|
headed up there as well today. Definitely set aside some time for inspection. Takes over an hour with our Malibu as they fill and empty each ballas tank (4), one at a time. It's painful. Also will cost over $100 if you want in 'n out privelages for the year (a bit less for the week).
If you're loading the boat down, you may want to prop down, otherwise, just plan on taking a bit longer to plane. It's really not that big of a deal for us, but our only extra weight is the people we cram into our boat. |
